These are known to go on Ford's, in the 2000s and that are trucks and SUVs IE Lincoln navigator, f250 though they all are mostly mounted in rear and any open elements and they are made of aluminum and bolted to a steel frame this may cause premature failure especially in calcium and salted roads like in Northeast but either way the factory ones eventually will either burn out from that or break in half like the one I had did or burn up. The Ford trucks have it mounted in the center soon as you lay under the back and look up you'll see it I believe it's a seven wire plug there's ways to test it. As I'll mentioned. On the SUVs like the Lincoln navigator it is mounted behind the driver side rear tire on the frame which is kind of a poor spot. But either way it's a easy quick change and something that I would definitely not overlook if you have a vehicle not getting fuel pressure or similar issue. And don't be afraid to buy a cheaper version of it it doesn't have to be oem. It's pretty much just a couple resistors on a little PC board I don't know much about them but simple enough yet complicated enough. To break but it's easy to change at least... it's pretty easy to diagnose them just look on youtube. one sign is the car will just stall or not start up again usually because they corrode and literally break in half. Also you can smell a burning smell. another sign is things will start to go haywire inside like the gauges and you'll hear relays clicking that's a sign of it shortening itself out. Luckily they put this on there to control the fuel pump and send in unit and other stuff to the ECU it's actually a pretty good idea and design I like it. it's expensive if you buy OEM but there's nothing wrong with buying one like this been good so far. ...At first. I thought it was a bit cheap but said what the heck and bought it for the price it was half of what the name brand big stores wanted. .. I waited .. it came came with some hardware to use and mount it since the OE m hardware usually snaps off may have to drill a new hole and frame no big deal. also the plug which actually is usually spotless inside unless someone else has got into it or it was used off road severely but make sure plug is clean and everything comes apart easy and plugs in smooth and easy little bit of dielectric grease or some type of non petroleum spray lubrication Vaseline even if you're in a tight spot just to help keep corrosion in that bay even though it's a tight seal the plug comes off by pressing on top just like any other type of automobile plug it's fairly simple just take a look at it push on it a bit with your thumb and a screwdriver gently and it pops off that's the hardest part in my opinion especially if there's conquerors around it and it's on the SUV and not a pickup truck ford. So was easy install. One bolt pretty much which broke off luckily they give extra I use them went along smoothly the plugs was clean you could smell the old module had a burned smell this is one of the conclusions how I figured out what was wrong with it not starting and not having fuel pressure. I changed it plugged it in and it's been running ever since now and it's been nine degrees out blizzard like weather here and put about 1,000 MI on it and it is mounted right near the rear left tire on the side of the frame on the Lincoln navigators but awesome product for the price and if I get a year two years out of it it's worth it. -But I think it will last, and well worth price, shipping.. vs the aftermarket one which I was going to get from a local small auto parts that wanted almost triple the price. And was not even OEM but was possibly a doorman. Either way. This one was just as good I compared this one to the stock OEM and I could not find anything different except for maybe some small serial numbers and or a sticker maybe the plastic is a bit thinner on this one but other than that it's fine there's a job... -NOTE:so you know the name a quick thing to note about this part and problems related is there was no error code shown check engine light was on but not anything to do with this or anything to say that it was a fuel problem I simply just did some research and did some testing with a voltmeter on the fuel pump and the relays infuses in the fuse box panel. And quickly summed up that it was in fact this part, the fuel pump control module which controls fuel pressure the fuel level and tells that ECU things that are going on as well as another thing or two I can't recall so if you have a crank no start, and cannot figure out what it is since the code is not showing up anything important or major two things or three things would cause that and that is something like this fuel.. or something like spark like a ignition coil or a distributor cap and rotor or crank or cam sensor sometimes will not show a error code unless it was faulty as you were driving it. In some cases you shut the car off and go to start it and either no crank or crank and no spark. And this is where parts like this do not show a code unless you have a really good scan tool like a pro garage doors you have to just kind of be a bit of a mechanically inclined person know a little bit about how stuff works or at least maybe study a manual on your car. shipping speed was okay a bit slow it said two days but ended up taking longer but that was something to do with Amazon definitely would buy again from this seller and from this maker of parts.
