Great for Musicians
Perfect for building grip for drummers. Helps with keeping drumsticks from flying off - the reason for those warning posters. Also helps builds the fingering technique in manipulating the drumstick [good for any musician really]. Builds strength and endurance in the individual fingers and hand as a whole.

works good for individual finger exercise!
I'm using this exerciser to develop hand strength/finger dexterity for shooting a pistole. This item is excellent for isolating my trigger finger movement and building its strength. Instead of lighting the trigger spring pressure to make the trigger easier to pull/press, it is far better/safer to build the strength of your trigger finger instead! The tension adjustment feature works well, but only gives you about 4 to 6 lbs. of adjustment range for each finger, (still good for pulling a pistol trigger). When 1st. using this hand exerciser, all of my fingers were moving when I worked my trigger finger, (not what you want). After a few days of practicing with this exerciser, I started isolating and only moving my trigger finger, while the rest of my hand just gripped the other 3 spring plungers. All these little things we do to help us shoot better, HELP US SHOOT BETTER! Good luck people.

A quality strength trainer for rock climbing and guitarist
The Varigrip sports resistance trainer is an overall great product! This resistance training tool has multiple functions to help you improve for different activities. The grip trainer I have is a 9 to 12 lb set, and I can make slight adjustments to make manageable improvements over time. From the two weeks I have been using it, I have seen a reasonably noticeable improvement in my finger strength when I go rock climbing. I also like the texture base to help build calluses. I usually can't play my guitar when I want to; with the texture base of the grip trainer, I can stay prepared when I return to playing guitar after the long breaks. Of course, there are some issues with this product. The biggest issue is that the size listed isn't 5 x 7 x 0.5 inches and is around 2.5 x 3.5 x 0.75, making my fingers slightly cramped during use. Another issue is the difficulty of adjusting the small knobs. Suppose you want to change it past a certain point. In that case, you will have to remove the logo piece entirely, which is a minor inconvenience. another issue is when you want to swap over to the texture base side to callus your fingers and want to have the grey rubber base on the other end for grip—it then becomes uncomfortable since it isn't a snug fit and becomes hard to hold. Of course, you don't have to have the grey base, but I would rather not have any loose pieces or parts lying around just in case I lose them. All things considered, the product is exactly what I wanted to reach my training goals. Pros: Texture base for finger callus building Individual finger training Adjustable weight levels Comfortable rubber base Cons: Equipment is prone to cause discomfort for bigger hands Difficulty in adjusting the weight due to the small knobs Have to remove logo piece that doesn't seem like it should be removed

Absolutely amazing product!
I just want to highly commend this company for its amazing product, customer support, and for developing something that has immense potential to help many. Compared to all similar devices, this one is exceptional. It has a much more comfortable and padded grip that is ergonomic, it has variable tension for each finger which the others don’t have, and their support and assistance has been beyond amazing. Within literally a few days, my fingers and grip were getting stronger, and I am now the proud owner of two of the Varigrip devices and using them daily. I can’t recommend this product or this company highly enough!

Best finger grip trainer I've ever used
This is, hands down, the best finger grip trainer I've ever used. It is comfortable, it stays completely straight when you compress it without any "slop", and being able to adjust the tension is a great feature on its own, but even better that you can do it on each finger (my pinky is especially happy about that feature). Also, don't worry about the lowest setting being too high, unless you are in therapy with a very weak grip. The "medium" and "5 pound" claims for the low end of this trainer are highly exaggerated. The maximum setting is much, much more than twice the tension of the lowest setting, no matter what they are claiming. I suspect that the lowest setting is not well tested (they probably test the highest setting, which is pretty close to the 9 pound claim), so they simply claim "5 pounds" because they know that's a safe claim (I'd say it's less than 3 pounds, easy). Even if you have a weak pinky finger or weak grip overall, I think this will work well for you...so unless you are in serious rehab, I wouldn't even consider a lighter version. You may want to consider the heavier version. Although the description on this one claims "medium to xtra heavy," I disagree. More like "light to heavy." I am not a body builder (at all) but I'm already at maximum tension on everything but my pinky. It's a good resistance for me, so not a major issue, but there is nowhere for me to go up when that tension becomes too easy. I am not a particularly strong person (average-ish), so I think a lot of people will be even worse off it they think this is actually "xtra heavy." The heavier variant is the varigrip sports pro (also the therapy xtra heavy...I am skeptical that there is actually any difference...they look identical and have an identical claimed range of "9 to 12 pounds"). I haven't actually used it, but I think I would have been better off with that one set on a low setting rather than this one set on the highest setting. I also suspect that the lowest setting would be less than 9 pounds, just like the lowest setting on this one is not 5 pounds. If you have already done some finger training and you don't have any issues with a medium to heavy grip trainer, you should probably get the xtra heavy version instead. However, I absolutely and without reserve recommend this brand and style...the only question is which tension you should buy.
