It's listed as "unscented", which it qualifies for because it contains no chemical scents, but that doesn't mean it's without odor. I've tried other off-the-shelf brands that claimed to be unscented and found them to have much less odor. This brand however has a strong licorice scent when applied, but the odor doesn't remain once it's washed out. My guess is that the ingredients contain a lot of licorice based extracts to fight dog smell.Overall the shampoo is pretty nice. It's a little thinner and harder to lather than some others, but it gets there with slightly more effort. It's also a little harder to wash out completely, requiring a good bit more water for my short haired dog. The results are fantastic though. It doesn't leave any residue and leaves the hair feeling natural immediately after the bath. This worried me at first, but once the dog's hair was dry it gained the lustrous shine I've come to expect after a bath. It also worked very well to eliminate the dog smell, without leaving even a slight scent of the shampoo once fully dried.

I have used BVH Natural Dog Shampoo and Conditioner two times since it arrived and it has exceeded my expectations. I was looking for a nice shampoo I could use at home. Maxie (my dog) is very large 180 lbs. and very old. As a house dog Maxie needs to be clean as well as smell good. It is becoming increasingly difficult to take him to the groomer. The loading and unloading is really a strain on him. While it is a bit of work to bathe him, the shampoo has a nice scent and leaves Maxie fresh and fluffy, augmenting trips to the professional groomer. It also provides us with quality time spent during hands on grooming. When using the product I mixed it in a plastic bottle with ½ water and ½ shampoo making it easier to apply, lather, and rinse.

Pleasant fragrance, no lingering odor. Goes on easily and rinses off very easily. My dog hates bath time but this shampoo and conditioner in one, made it go faster and she didn't mind it nearly as much. She was very fluffy with no tangles afterwards. Best of all, no itching, scratching or irritation. That's worth the price!Update: After about three days, My dog broke out along her back, near her tail. This was disappointing because, I had just cleared up her skin irritation with an oatmeal based shampoo that I used for about 3 months. I don't know what ingredients might have caused this irritation and the resultant, constant biting and licking in that area, since all of the ingredients are not listed on the bottle or at the website.I know that she was rinsed well, especially in that area. I am very disappointed that there is something that caused either an allergic reaction or something that is irritating to the skin in this shampoo because it did leave my dog tangle free and fluffy. I am also disappointed that the ingredients are not listed on the bottle. I think that should be required.

the shampoo arrived today and I was eager to try it. I love it! I have two Bichons due to my own allergies and these dogs are high maintenance. They need to be washed and brushed/combed on a regular basis. They also have allergies so their skin is very sensitive. I am very careful about choosing shampoos for them and when I read about this one on Pinterest I knew I had to try it. I love the scent which is clean but not all perfumed like some of them. It gave a nice lather and I left it on for about 5 minutes to treat their skin with the conditioner in it. Bichons get very matted and I can see it makes it easier to comb them. They are nice and clean, smell good, feel so soft and look beautiful. I think this is going to be their new shampoo. Time will tell how it works on their skin but from what I see so far it's great. I love that it's natural too. Great product. Also, being made in the USA is always wonderful!

I have two mid-size dogs who spend time both inside and outside. I am very sensitive to pet odors, and needed a long-lasting shampoo that would keep them fresh for a reasonable length of time. One of my dogs gets hot spots, and this shampoo had the unexpected benefit of soothing them so well that she has stopped biting at them and the fur is growing back. My dogs stay smelling fresh for up to a week, and their fur is now very glossy and shiny. I'm not crazy about the fragrance, so I didn't give this the full 5 stars, but on the other hand, anything smells better than hot, dirty dog. So in closing, I will definitely purchase again!

I have been looking for another organic shampoo plus conditioner for my dog's dry, itchy, sensitive skin. The water in NYC is just horribly harsh! We all hate it in our house and it's really drying out my dog's skin causing itching, biting and irritation. So far it did help but it's no cure for this harsh water issue. His hair was nice and soft. I was happy the smell was very light but it would be nice if it was completely fragrance free. My dog hates shampoo that has a smell. The only negative is that you do not have the full ingredients list on the bottle!!

We have used this shampoo once, so I may update this after more baths. It lathers up very nicely and have a nice scent as well. Not perfumey or ridiculous. It left my dogs fur soft and clean.Based on some of the reviews I expected this to be a LOT easier to rinse out. I actually found it more difficult than most of the shampoos I've used.My dogs smell like dogs a week after using it, so it doesn't work any miracles, but it's a good shampoo.
