Picture Yourself Learning Corel PaintShop Pro X6

Clearly written and well-organized. The developer's video tutorials are great, but not comprehensive and hard to go back to find forgotten details. I've been using PaintShop Pro for over a decade. When I jumped from X to X6 I decided to be diligent to really learn the program. This book really helps get me up to speed. This is a great and rich graphics program with a very modest purchase price (and no forever fees like Photoshop!). It has great capability beyond just re-touching photos. Too bad there are so few books as guides to what it can do. This volume is a good start.

I gave it just 4 stars because, IMHO, there should be some examples to try out with clear and concise step by step instruction. There is none of that. If you want to understand a particular topic, you must read the chapter/s regarding that particular topic. Then try to figure it out on your own. Don't get me wrong here, it is a very good manual. If you have no clue about how to use PSP, this will give you all of the information on how to accomplish or understand the different subjects needed for organizing ("work flow"..why do they have to use complicated titles for stuff?) and editing. For those of us who can't afford Adobe Photo Shop (or even understand it), PSP is affordable and great for more advanced DSL users. It is great for both JPEG and RAW photos. Editing is more advanced. So, if you are new to this advanced technology, you need this book. It will give you a better, fuller knowledge of the program. Good luck!

Just commenced to read first 3 chapters that gives in a good idea of the program and what is involved. This is a well written book with a "down to earth" explanations as to how you use "Corel PaintShop ProX6". If you get Corel Paintshop ProX6 (Disc)I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU Purchase this Book. Am work through Program and Taking "small steps" to learn........I have to read things several times for it to "sink in". Doing about about a "Chapter a Week/or Two" after understanding the first 3 chapters.

When I ordered Corel PaintShop Pro X6 I decided that I needed to order PaintShop Pro X6 for Photographers and Picture Yourself Learning Corel PaintShop Pro X6 as well. Just like the program and the other book I am taking it all very slow. If you want a paint program Corel, in my opinion, is fantastic. The books are a must. They are chocked full of useful information.

I am the biggest fan in the world of AMAZON; my rule of thumb is that if something is handled exclusively by AMAZON IT IS GREAT. Sorry, this book is mediocre. It contains an offer of add-ons a few pages into the book and the author uses an incorrect ISBN number which corresponds to COREL PaintSHOP Pro X5 not x6 and when I tried to get assistance from the publisher it was impossible. Please buy the Program from AMAZON because the program is wonderful; and COREL technical support is also wonderful. I purchased a one year subscription directly from COREL to get rapid assistance directly from COREL for one year for $69.00. The technicians are great and COREL support which is inside the program is better than this book. Use the money that you would have spent for the book and spend it towards the subscription. Sorry, to my friends at AMAZON, this book is not as user friendly as the one year subscription to tech support call 877-582-6735

This is a good book. It's not difficult to follow and you will get lots of ideas about how to make the most of your photos. My one recommendation for all of these instruction books is to make them spiral bound so you can lay them flat and they will stay open while you are learning. I would pay extra for that.

This book will help you to understand better Corel paint shop pro x6. Easy to read and understand. However it will benefit with more step by step projects. The theory is good but the practices are lame.

This is one of the easier tutorial books to follow and very well done, many great suggestions and easy to understand. Would recommend this to anyone that buys the Pro X6 program, even those who consider themselves to be well versed in photo programs.

If you're getting started with Paintshop Pro, or even if you've been using it for a while, this is a must have reference book.

Somewhat useful. Could use step by step instructions for many things like cloning, erasing etc. definitions of many things would be helpful, e.g. Vibrancy, clarity, threshold......... Starting values for most applications would be a big help. Beginners need more explicit teaching than this. PSP is a good program and would be more popular with instructions tailored for them. Book does not recognize thst many people work out of their Microsoft Photo Gallery.

I was impressed with the depth of this book in getting to grips with psp x6. Although there are some frustrating omissions in step by step instructions. I am a novice at tech speak. But overall it is a valuable help. I had psp x3 so x6 is a learning curve. This book is a good help in achieving a working knowledge of ALL that psp x6 offers.
