Recommended for both productivity and gaming.
I have been using the Razer DeathStalker Expert keyboard for a week now, and I am really starting to enjoy and appreciate it. My previous keyboard of 6 years is the Logitech G11, which I bought twice after a nasty liquid-related accident with the first one. I wanted a replacement after the blue backlight began to dim on the G11 (use at night was a major driver for me) and was consistently directed to the Razer by searches and the reviews I read, which speaks volumes about the company and this product. Users of the keyboard clearly love it, their happy reviews swayed me to buy it on Amazon and it is a great piece of kit to own! I love the backlighting, it is bright green and stands out like a sore thumb - which is awesome in the dark, and has application even during the day to highlight keys just that faint amount. My typing accuracy and speed has improved over the G11 mechanical keys. I am still getting used to applying the right amount of pressure when typing, it clearly takes time to adjust to the chiclet style keys. However, the rebound after depressing the key seems to cue me to type the next letter and by "bouncing" my finger off. This speeds up typing noticeably, while the clear lettering and key spacing makes for confident key presses. Less hunt, more peck. It's a solid, sleek-looking high quality item, it feels less plasticky than my G11. The way it's designed gives me better tactile feedback about the key location and where my fingers are - very useful for productivity while typing, and while gaming. The time saved = more bullets on target if you're a regular gamer. I feel the benefit in Star Citizen with better control of my ship functions through quicker response. (I recognised it all lit up on Chris Roberts' desk during "10 For The Chairman", it looks awesome!) It's surprisingly small and low profile, pleasingly attractive and awesomely eye catching when it's lit up. I haven't used the Synapse software yet, but look forward to giving it a try - as well as the on-the-fly macro feature. The audio and media functions are easily accessible and due to it's design simplicity the functions are a snap to find and operate. I'm pleased so far with this keyboard, and recommend it to anyone on the fence about a new keyboard. It's an excellent upgrade.

Incredible keyboard, arguably the best flat key period.
This is my daily driver at work (software development), and I am very particular about keyboards. Let me start with the cons, the move into the pros: Cons: - Wrist rest is glossy, it's got some textured plastic which is nice, but it's still glossy, kinda disappointing - No braided cable, though this hasn't been a huge issue for me - You need to keep your hands clean when using this keyboard because it picks up grease easily, for me this is not an issue but for some it could be - The logo is just a static image, no lights. This isn't really a con but something to be aware of. Pros: - Key spacing is absolutely perfect for me, I think that is the best part. - Chicklet membrane keys are very comfortable to type with - Quiet, so you can use it in any situation be it work, around people, etc. - The wrist rest is super nice and its got lots of space - LED's are pretty bright, even in fully lit rooms, and there are several levels of brightness you can choose from (I think it's like 10 or something) - Great response times, it's good for gaming - The low profile seems like it wouldn't be very comfortable but it is incredibly comfy - Build quality (for me anyway) was awesome, simply awesome. Good luck breaking this thing in day to day use. - Almost zero flex in this keyboard (The only reason I say it has any at all is because you can sort of flex it if you really try, but day to day use will be zero flex) - The look is very nice - It's fairly light but still anchors nicely with rubber on the bottom - The spacing on the sides, this sounds weight but on elevated keys with no spacing on the edges your pinky will sometimes fall of (such as the keyboard I'm typing this with), but the subtle spacing on the sides is great. - It can lay very flat or raise with the legs about an inch Overall, this is a solid keyboard even before the fact that the price is great, I have the backlit non chroma edition, I wouldn't go with the ultimate as it's a bit...pointless...but standard, backlit or chroma are all great choices. The fact that it is highly affordable just makes it that much better. I would say this is probably in the top 5 flat key keyboards period, and for me it is probably my favorite keyboard. Absolutely great purchase.

Lighted keys are beautiful....
--Review of Razer Deathstalker expert gaming keyboard-- This is a pretty neat keyboard. The keys are so smooth. I am coming from a Logitech MK320 so I am getting used to the tactile feel of the chiclet keyboard. Everything about the keyboard feels solid and with a good build. While typing the keyboard sticks to my desk so it doesn't move at all (neither did any of my keyboards not that I think of it). Keystrokes noise is a bit louder but fades quick with each stroke. I haven't used the software that came with but windows 10 x64 pro (ver 1607) did download and ask to install once I plugged in the USB connector. Speaking of USB, the cable is plenty long and a good thickness. I love the palm wrest. It makes typing very comfortable when compared to the Logitech MK320. The green light is perfect and not overly bright. I can find the key I want while playing BF4 in the dark. I don't have any humming noise like other have mentioned. My only complaint is I wish it came with a blue led light as my computer has a blue led fan. I guess I can change out my fan to green to match. FYI: Purchased from local retail store that starts with a W. They had 2 boxes. One that says windows 7 compatible and one that says windows 8 compatible. I went with the newer box that said windows 8 certified. I hope the coating on the keys doesn't wear. I know this is a membrane keyboard but I don't like mechanical.

I originally used a wireless Logitech k360 keyboard and I grew accustom to the little chicklit keys so when I saw that Razer had one with green backlighting, it was an instant buy. The keyboard is great. The backlight isn't too bright; you won't notice it during the day, but at night it's looks really awesome. The keys don't have any texture however they do shine up pretty quickly. The keyboard itself is nicely textured and not glossy and the USB cord is a great length. This keyboard does try to install software onto your computer. I was upgrading to Windows 10 and the Razer keyboard software came up DURING the installation..hilarious. You can tell it never remind you and it should never bug you again). All in all it's a great keyboard and I hope it lasts a while.

I was expecting that spending ~10k on a keyboard means I am investing for at least next 3-4 years. However, I found the keys getting jammed in normal usage within 3 days. The replacement too was not up to the mark. Infact, my existing budget keyboard Logitech MK520 works better that this expensive piece. Thankfully, those were the days when Amazon did not have the stubborn replacement only policy and I could claim a refund. Anyone planning to buy this should be absolutely sure as you don't get refunds these days. It's replacement only.

Purchased as a lightening deal for 4k so it was value for money. Before and After the lightening deal I couldn't find it cheaper than 7k anywhere, so it was a legitimate deal offered by Amazon. Coming to the Keyboard itself, it has a very distinct look and feel. The keys are all flat not contoured. It's closer to a laptop keyboard than a conventional lower range keyboard or a mechanical keyboard. It has a matte black finish so it looks quite "stealthy", and suits the name "DeathStalker". When the backlight is off (such as when your system is shut down), you can barely see the characters printed on each key, which I actually love. The Chroma lighting (RGB Lighting) is probably the feature that makes it worth the money. If you are not someone who gives priority to looks and lighting, rather go for a more economical option or a mechanical keyboard in the same range. Typing is a breeze and the primary reason I didn't go for a mechanical keyboard is because I tried a couple and just couldn't handle the "click click" noise. So, in that regard, I'm happy with my decision as this is quieter than any keyboard i have ever used. Since it is a bit unconventional as stated earlier, it takes some getting used to, but after that I couldn't go back to using the cheaper keyboards. Subtracting 1 Star because the Brightness of the keyboard leaves you desiring for a little more. It may not be noticeable if it's the only piece of hardware with RGB lighting but I use it with a Mamba Tournament Edition mouse and a Firefly Mousepad, so all three are lit up right next to each other and the dimness of the Keyboard is discernible. Also, you won't be getting some features offered by the higher end keyboards by Razer, such as the Blackwidow Chroma. There is only 3 Zone Lighting, so you can't customize individual keys. The lighting effect " Reactive " is also missing. Overall satisfied with my purchase, particularly for the price point I got it at. If you're into competitive gaming then I'd suggest look elsewhere, as it doesn't have macros and is not mechanical. However, if looks and RGB lighting are priorities, without breaking the bank, then this is for you.
