Fate/Zero Volume 1

A great manga adaptation of an amazing series.
I am a really big fan of the Fate series so I knew I wanted to try this adaptation out. It's adapted from Gen Urobuchi's light novel series of Fate/Zeroand the anime by Ufotable. The artist, Shinjiro, has an interesting take on the series art style, keeping it quite similar to the normal style, but addingdifferent visual aspects to the characters. In my opinion, this allows the different characters on the pages to pique the reader's interest and catch their eye. A great story with so many cool characters. I recommend other fans of the series to check this out and for anyone not familiar with Fate to give it a try. As of now, only the first two volumes are available on Amazon and it sucks to wait for the rest, but it's worth it.

This is awesome! I'm not an anime watcher (only a manga reader) and this is is a prequel of the light novels and/or a retelling? of the popular anime. Because of this, I did find the beginning a little confusing to get into as I guess you are supposed to already know what is going on from being an anime fan, but once I got it sorted out and understood what the story was about I was hooked. The premise is really cool! I loved the pairing up of people with warriors from history and the plot of the Fourth Holy Grail War. This first volume is all set-up. There is no battle though the book ends with two warriors meeting each other so perhaps vol. 2 will start with a battle. Anyway, I got really excited to see King Arthur, Gilgamesh and Alexander the Great show up in this volume. A fourth warrior is introduced but I'd never heard of him even though he's from the Irish Finn MacCool legend which I have heard of/read. And even though all these famous guys are men historically, they are not in this manga! I really enjoyed the art as well. Books with characters from history and literature are really fun for me and this series shows a lot of promise from just this first volume. Can't wait for the battles!

It begins....
Fate/Zero is, in my opinion, one of the greatest anime's ever created. Gen Urobuchi does amazing work in Nasu's world. So of course I had to read the manga adaptation. This review will be divided into two section, the first paragraph will be anime reference free, the second will reference the anime, and the third will be overall impressions. The story of Fate/Zero tells the of seven teams of mages and servants battling for the Holy Grail, a device that which once given form, can grant the wish of the possessor. 'Servants' in this case are legendary heroes, ie Hercules or Sun Tzu. The story focuses on several different teams in this volume, namely Kiritsugu Emiya and Saber, Kotomine Kirei and Assassin, Tokiomi Tohsaka and Archer, and Waver Velvet and Rider. For anime viewers, this section of the manga covers episodes 1-3 of the anime, but doesn't include any scenes featuring Lancer's Master, Berserker, or Caster.Overall, this is a very good set up volume. The artwork is good, and the story gives incredible focus toward developing this section of the cast. There is a fair degree of humor to keep the mood light, but unfortunately, there is little action in this volume. Fortunately, I expect that to change in the next volume.

Excelente!

Got this extremely cheap, considering how expensive any fate content is now a days I think it’s a steal
