If you get a Verizon unlocked model, it might not work well with Tello/T-Mobile SIMs
I received the Galaxy A01 and added a Tello SIM card to it - and it worked. It named the Tello network on the display. However, this phone had a BIG problem. It literally took 60 seconds to dial a number! In other words, when I entered any phone number (local or not) and hit the "dial" widget, I had to wait about 60 seconds until the ring tone was heard, and then the dialed phone began to ring. Not acceptable! I suspect that this reconditioned Verizon phone somehow searches for the Verizon network first - and then it goes to the T-Mobile/Tello network second. I have tried to make it manually select the Tello network, but that doesn't seem to help. I have also set up the correct Tello APN information (just in case) and enabled VoLTE. No help. So I am thinking it is the Verizon firmware. One person advised me that "... some Verizon-branded devices are optimized for Verizon’s network and may not fully support T-Mobile’s band requirements, leading to connectivity delays or failed call attempts." I used the same SIM card in another unlocked (from Tracfone) Galaxy A01 phone, and it dialed quickly! So the SIM card is not the problem. The bottom line is - if you are going to use one of these on a Verizon compatible network, you should be fine. But otherwise, see if you can find out which carrier programmed the phone BEFORE you buy it!
