It slides. There is nothing grippy about it.
It is a beautiful rug, but if you buy it, be sure to buy those rug things that keep it in place because its got the moves like Jagger lol. I can't say if it lays flat or not because I just unrolled it. It's of average thickness there's no smell and it fits perfectly where I want it to go. It feels good under my bare feet compared to the wood floor lol.

This carpet was much more beautiful than I expected easy cleaning. The only thing I would suggest is that you lay something on the corner so they stay flat for a few days. Otherwise great road great thickness everything
