This is for keen jigsaw enthusiasts who like a challenge! Bought it for my wife and son who like these challenges and it didn’t disappoint. They thought a 1000 piece effort would get done in an evening….. It took them around three weeks of plugging away to eventually complete it. The pieces are not conventional shapes and sizes which adds to the difficulty. My advice? Plan to keep the dining room table free for a few weeks.

A unique jigsaw5 starsThis is a really unique jigsaw in that it's a circular picture you are working to, rather than the usual square or rectangular shape. Maybe that's not that unusual but it's definitely not one I have seen before, let alone done.It's 1,000 pieces and is a beautiful picture of Venice, Italy.The pieces are well made, and you can feel the quality and thickness of them when you start the challenge of putting the pieces together. I have had issues in the past with poorly made jigsaw pieces that are a struggle to fit in to place with each other, and can be a real pain to separate as well. With the pieces of card bending and getting locked into each other. These pieces have well cut edges that fit in snuggly to eachother and pull apart with ease.The puzzle is really challenging and also really rewarding. The supplied picture is a real help in enabling me to see what I'm working towards and I'm about a third of the way through completing it now. Although it's not the easiest of puzzles, now that I am seeing real progress I am beginning to appreciate more and more just how good this will look once I have completed it.It's a little more expensive than puzzles I have used in the past but the superior quality of the pieces makes that cost more than worth it.

I was very disappointed to find a piece of the outer edge missing.Really like the image and the circular shape.

Venice is a most alluring place for me. It seems to ooze theatricality. The contrasts of light and dark, the narrow passages, the reflections of light off the water, the sheer fragile beauty of the place. 45-75% of the human body is comprised of water and, built on a lagoon, the city of Venice is just as potentially fragile. Already the basements of many Venetian buildings are uninhabitable. Slowly, the place appears to be returning to water.This Blue Sky 1000 piece jigsaw focusses on 'the city of bridges'. It's a circular puzzle that takes an aerial view of La Serenissima, making it appear like a small planet, a world of its own. This is a seriously challenging puzzle. There are lots of tiny terracotta roofed buildings and of course lots of the surrounding blue green waters of the lagoon.This jigsaw measures 67.5cm/26.6" in diameter. In the shrink wrapped, sturdy box you get a poster that's helpfully larger than the image on the front of the box to assist in completing the puzzle which is printed on good quality board.I have some way to go until completion. If you're looking for a really good, challenging jigsaw puzzle that will give a serious challenge this Blue Sky circular Venice would fit the bill perfectly. It would make a well received gift for jigsaw fans and lovers of Venice alike.

This jigsaw is a real challenge. I love it. I started it on one of the hottest days we have had this year as it was too hot to be outdoors and we have a cool, north-facing dining room. Doing the edges was difficult, which set the scene for the rest! I do not like easy jigsaws and this one is certainly not easy, so I thoroughly enjoyed it, (I couldn’t leave it alone). Luckily a couple of friends are also passionate about jigsaws so they popped in and we worked on it together, making a happy shared experience for us all. The fact that it is round meant no-one got the short straw of working upside down. I recommend this jigsaw if you like difficult ones that are not too vast - I find 1,000 pieces fit on a table well, can be done fairly quickly and yet can be a real challenge. (Personally, I find 2-3,000 piece puzzles tire me after I get half way through and I get too bored to finish them, but each to their own!)This puzzle also tempts me to go back to Venice when travel becomes easier and less risky, it’s a place I love exploring.This would make an ideal gift for a jigsaw lover as well as a treat for yourself if jigsaws are fun for you and at about £14 it’s excellent value as the quality is excellent.
