My 10 year olds enjoyed this and have now read the full series.

I love the world the Jenny McLachlan has created in Roar. It is so imaginative and magical! In this sequel Arthur and Rose are excited to visit their grandad over the holiday and escape to Roar for an adventure. Arthur plans to go exploring with Wininja and Rose is determined to find her old friend Mitch (a mermaid witch). These plans are shattered when soon after their arrival a message appears from Crowky...What's in the box? The box contains the worse fears and nightmares Rose and Arthur can imagine. They thought it was safely hidden, never to be seen again. However, now they must race across Roar to try to find the box before Crowky does because if he find's it first, it could mean disaster for the Land of Roar! This story is a thrilling adventure ride full of danger, magical spells and interesting characters and Crowky continues to be one of the creepiest, most menacing villains I've read in a children's book! I love the adventures that the twins have in Roar and I also love the character development they go through. Content: Does discuss themes of bullying. Whilst things turn out ok in the end, I was slightly troubled that there wasn't a clear message of going to a trusted adult when bullying becomes a problem.
