Am i able to use this for hip thrusts ?

Yes you can however like all equipment your size will play a factor in the stability of the bench. If you are overweight and attempt this exercise I suggest you put the bench against a wall for reinforcement. I have used this bench for over a year for multiple workouts and have never had any issues nor needed to stabilize it as I am average sized. No harm intended in my response I'm just trying to be open and use safety as a precaution.

maximum weight is 300 lb, I weigh about 185 and I could bench press anywhere from 200 to 225, how sturdy or safe is this bench?

This bench isn't a bench you would use for bench pressing since it doesn't have the bench press bar rests. It would be unsafe to use as a bench press bench.
