Is this product BPA free?

On the box, it says "This product is made of pure food grade Silicone Rubber that can withstand temperatures of - 22 F to 450 F. The website for this product is www.fredandfriends.com and the product is Made in China. There is no mention of BPA on the box.

Can he be used with a tea bag inside?

I never tried it, but that would make sense if you want to avoid getting those grounds out afterwards. On the other hand, the reason for using mr. Tea is because you would have loose tea and needed something to hold the tea in. However, I do like your idea, so I will go try it right now, and write my results here (in the meantime, please listen to some pleasant music, haha)........Okay I'm back. I put a tea bag in it, steeped it for 3 min. and it worked perfectly. One bit of advice: Rinse the mr.T under cold water before opening him and getting the tea bag out, otherwise it will be too hot. So either wait till it cools or cold water rinse.

Should I worry about the item sliding around the rim and smacking me in the face? Asking for a friend.

I think you (or they) will be fine! It's silicone and kind of "sticks" to the rim, mine has never slid around.

Does any of the loose leaf tea come out of the holes? Im just worried that they are too big compared to a traditional mesh type infuser.
