Cook Korean!: A Comic Book with Recipes [A Cookbook]

Very nice illustrations, excellent condition, easy to read.

I originally got this for my graphic novel loving young daughter to equally help her widen her knowledge of food, yet it’s so good it’s taken pride of place amongst my own Korean cookbooks!! I use and further adapt some of the banchan recipes for our own weekly preparations and the main dishes all have been a delight and well received. The format is playful and achievable for beginners to the cuisine especially in places where some ingredients may be hard to source even online unless you live near a Korean/ inclusive asian supermarket. The creator tells of her own food journey and falling back in love with her own food, each recipe is taught to us by a friendly hanbok wearing character with a focus on encouraging a love, appreciation and engagement with the food and cultural aspects with asides on how and when this may be eaten or how this version differs from traditional ingredients. Well worth the price several times over.

While this cookbook might seem tailored to kids, its actually very useful for all ages. The instructions are easy to follow and well organized. Early on, the author outlines various ingredients you should consider buying ahead of time to have on hand. This is definitely handy information to have. The book is also a good lesson in Korean cooking overall, which makes the book even ore interesting. The pictures, in a cartoon fashion, were a bit busy for my taste, but it was easy to look past that once I got used to them and began cooking. I highly recommend this to everyone.
