Does this highlighting kit come with any toner, in case you get the orangey blonde ?

Yes, it comes with a purple toner that you leave in after you wash it out with the shampoo they provide.

Do you have to use the color cap? I'd prefer to paint on the highlights.

You don't have to. It's your preference. If you take the time to use the cap your results will come out looking amazing, like a professional job. I am not a fan of doing it with the cap due to the amount of time and effort it takes, but I use it anyway every time. The results are worth it. Besides if your going to take the time to do it, might as well do it right. If you are going for more chunky looking highlights, I would say don't use the cap. But for thinner, natural looking highlights do use it. Both ways work.

what hair lightener to use for permed hair

You can use this product on permed hair but make sure you prepare your hair with argon oil or another oil to make sure it is in good condition.

Is this enough for long (waist-length) hair if I do highlights and an ombre effect?

Oh yeah, there’s a lot of product! It’ll probably be more than you need! I have very long hair (up to my behind) & I still couldn’t use up all the product. I applied it to lots of strands all over. This product is worth every penny. I truly love this product & brand.
