Well, this is not a professional art set as it is titled. If you have a child that enjoys art and hasn't been in formal classes for a few years this is likely acceptable. On the other hand, if you have teenagers who have been taking formal art classes for a few years and really find art a creative outlet and a stress reliever than this will be hit or miss depending on the teenager.Firstly, I thought this was a portable travel easel with storage...its not the drawers fall out and should have clasp locking hardware. An added strap would be needed to carry. There still is no way to carry a wet painting but that was not advertised.Secondly, the corners are stapled with such small nails or staples I don't know how they will stay for portability over the long term.Third, there should be straps or some way to keep the paint brushes and sketch pencils in place when the plastic molded holders break and you still must lift the wing panels to access the easel.Third, the paint brushes are quite simplistic for a professional art set so there are no fan, no filbert, no flats and no palette scrapers.Fourth, the drawer pulls could be a little bigger.Fifth, the art supplies look generic so much that I cannot without use tell if the pastels are oil pastels or crayons.Six, the boys seem to use q tips and towels for pastels and I don't see a storage for that if they take it to the lake in village.On the plus side, we are headed into winter and this is small enough to fit on a desk while holding every art supply that we manage to misplace in the house, in the car and back and forth to school over the years...in my mind that's a huge benefit. I happen to like that the drawers open and close facing and directly under the easel and there are two drawers. I suppose one could purchase the right sized flat thumb palette and it might store on top of the easel when flat. The easel can lay flat for basic watercolor or there are multiple positions for the easel leg. The pads are small but appear quality. I don't love when the boys paint with oils so I'm pleased with acrylic and watercolor. This is light enough to be portable. Heading into winter and digging into art to get through the long nights this is certainly a positive. I would pay more for improvement to the issues I mentioned.

My daughter really wanted an art set and to surprise her for her birthday we bought this art set, easel and other items. This set looked promising in pictures but is a disappointing execution of a storage box. My daughter just opened it this evening and the frame was separated. The top does not align with the hasp. The joints have no signs of wood glue, but only tiny brad holding the frame together. The drawers don’t fit well. The actual art supplies are ok. Disappointed I will probably have to return this item and look for a better art set.

I was skeptical about an art set that cost so little, but I am very IMPRESSED!!!! This is definitely the ULTIMATE set for a GREAT price! The wooden case is beautiful and holds everything nicely and keeps it organized! I would definitely recommended this to anyone looking for a great quality art set whether for a beginner artist or someone more advanced! Can’t say enough about it!

The first thing I used were the pencils. One broke lengthwise with just a little pressure trying to shade. The pencil sharpener was useless. The blade didn’t even touch any of the pencil leads. I took it apart and reset blade but it was dull I guess and when I tried to turn the pencil it also split lengthwise. I tried another to sharpen with a fresh sharpened knife and the lead just kept splitting. The paints were very pale you couldn’t get any deep color out of them. The acrylic tubes that is. I didn’t try the watercolor squares yet but they don’t look good either. Colored pencils were very waxy and not much color put down. I found it odd there were 3 drawing pads but not any for watercolor orwet paint pads. The oil pastels were also over waxy and you would probably be better off with Crayola crayons. If it wasn’t for all the pencils splitting it might be an okay set for an elementary student who just wanted to color and doesn’t know the difference that all these are bad supplies but the price is totally ridiculous for the condition of all the supplies. I wouldn’t ok it for anyone to buy. The only reason I bought it was because all my art supplies were stolen. I’m a professional artist who has sold work in galleries and I was just bored and wanted to keep up with some work but didn’t have the money to rebuy what all I had lost at the professional level of all my supplies. Totally useless set, I would just throw the supplies out and keep the box and find some use for it.

Craftmanship on this box is so not worth it. 10 yr old opened the drawer and front fell off. Top front of box falling apart. Not regular wood. Made of balsam wood. Definitely sad as I thought thus would be a good buy. Clearly not sanded well and parts are not glued together at all small tacks used that appear worthless. Now I have to glue box back together myself. Just bad !! 1 star is even too good for the disappointment!!!UPDATE 01-04-2020 - Customer Service has been in touch and seems very concerned regarding the quality of the box we received. They have sent out a new one free of charge. I like when Customer Service is responsive as they have been. I am upgrading the review rating pending the arrival of the new box. Stay tuned.Customer service reached out to me and was super with sending me a new art box. I was shocked to find it full of supplies as I just asked them to replace the box itself. They were fantastic and shipped a new one too me. I am happy to report that I would purchase from this company again without a doubt!!!
