Great for 20 month old daughter
We purchased the Cookie Monster Kitchen Cafe' for $39.99 with Amazon Prime Shipping and could not be happier (it sold for $59.99 at Target). This was a gift to our 20 month old daughter for Christmas, and as expected, it was by far her favorite. She watches Sesame Street every day and easily identified the voices of Cookie Monster, Elmo, and Abby. The kitchen is very interactive. She enjoys checking the oven, turning the knobs, turning the burner of the stove on and off, and pushing food down Elmo or Abby's mouths. She can play with this for 30 minutes without interruption. Yes, Cookie Monster speaks with imperfect English, but this does not bother me. Our daughter dances with the music. We expect her to outgrow this set by the time she turns 3, but in the meantime, it is the perfect height for her. Other reviewers mentioned that this product seemed flimsy. It is made out of hard plastic; it is light - so if it happens to fall over on your child, no harm done. It would not be recommended that non-walkers use this because if they do try to "pull up" on it, they will likely topple over with the kitchen in tow. Nevertheless, I don't think I could have gotten anything better for my daughter than this short of bringing over a playmate. I don't know what could top it!The lightness is great for moving it from room to room - I can cook dinner, read an article in a magazine, or *gasp* go to the restroom while she's occupied with it.

DO NOT PURCHASE!!!
It didn't stay together for more than 30 minutes before it just broke apart. NOT WORTH the money I paid for this. Thank goodness I bought this for my 1 yr old whose only interest in it was the music it plays. I believe that the only part we have now.

Not worth the money, bad quality.
I liked this at first, but its much smaller than expected. Its also made very poorly! NOT worth the money. My son played with it for a few months but i was constantly having to put pieces back together. Worth the few extra bucks to get a bigger way better made step one kitchen. It also comes with not enough food pieces. The sounds are cute and so is the concept. Would have been happier if this was a $20 toy. This was barely bigger than my average size 2 year old.

cute
first the burner does not make sizzle sounds when turned on, cookie monster will say something like "oh stove it hot! Ouch" then it will make a wierd sizzle/buzz type sound, and sometimes it doesn't even to that. Kids love opening and closing the windows and still play with it :) which is the point. the food is junky i kept the egg, pan and spatula and got rid of the rest.

Good for price
I bought this on sale for half the suggested price. For the price I paid, it's a great toy. My 18 month old son loves it and enjoys it. However, he mostly enjoys flipping it over and taking it apart. He also loves putting things into the oven.Pros:(1) Easy to put together and easy to reassemble when a toddler takes it apart. It took me about 15 minutes to put it together initially. I'm terrible at putting things together and I found this easy to put together. Bonus points to the manufacturer for permanently labeling each piece on the inside.(2) Inexpensive.(3) Holds a toddler's attention for quite a while.(4) Pretty sturdy. He loves to flip it on its side and stand on it.(5) Has a lot of activities on it and some do allow for open play.(6) Sized right for a toddler.(7) Has basic commands that a toddler can follow.(8) It's small. I put ours in the far corner of the playroom.Cons:(1) Disassembles really easily. My son takes off the legs and oven door repeatedly.(2) Kind of rickety. I knew this going in, so I made sure to buy it cheap.(3) Is really lightweight. This is a good and bad. It's good as it likely won't hurt your kid when he flips it on himself. It's bad as it's really easy for him to flip.(4) Really loud. There's a reason I put it in the far corner of the playroom.(5) If you touch anything, it'll go off for quite a while. It says different things during the diatribe, but it can be annoying (what electronic toy isn't annoying?). However, the "off" switch is easy to access on the back.

inexpensive kitchen set in comparison
1) Easy to put together. No screws, no tools, nothing. I think it took less than 10 minutes.2) Great for small spaces. Those huge play kitchen you see are fancy and all, but take up lots and lots of space.3) Also, not expensive compared to those huge fancy play kitchens.4) Good enough. i know there's no refrigerator or cabinets, but that's ok. They don't know the difference. Plus, they have plenty of other toys.

don't like the sliding elmo/abby window
2 year old got this for christmas. it's very small. she is taller than it. she loves all things elmo and cookie, so she plays with it occasionally, but it doesn't hold her attention long. don't like the sliding elmo/abby window. food keeps getting stuck back there. book flips, stove opens, dials turn, but that's it! nothing else. cookie talks, but we had to turn it off because he started asking us to cook with him in the middle of the night and not during the day. the only thing that she really plays with is the food that came with it. should have spent the money on another better kitchen.

Easy to put together and the characters talk back to ...
Got this for my little boy for Christmas as an extra gift. Has become his main gift, he loves it and plays with it constantly. Easy to put together and the characters talk back to you when you feed them or cook anything. Really pleased with this product.
