I understand that these paints are activated with water, but what should I do when I'm done using them? and how would I keep these sanitized?

This is my advice for sanitation! (I had 2 years to figure this out, due to covid.) #1 - Use some rubbing alcohol mixed with your water; #2 - then also have just a cup of alcohol after that. Don't touch your makeup until you do the 1st 2 steps. #3 - Then for an added step, get a small UVC light to sanitize them when you get home. This is the best way to not spread anything. (None of this hurts your paint. I have used this method, since I got called back to face paint.) This works for the water based Paradise & Prisma Mehron, Wolfe Brothers, and Tag. These are the ones I use for face painting at Living Waters Artistry. As far as them being ruined by the alcohol. I have not had any problems using the method I stated above. Also remember, water based make-up already dries up when not in use. Then to reactivate them, you get the wet again. Hence, the type of product. So, even if you have old water based make-up that has not been used a lot, and then starts to crack. Just reactivate it with the water, and it is good! That is why water based make-up is good for face painting! Because, it can always be reactived with water, oil based make can not. Once oil based make-up dries, it is not good anymore. (Most makeup from Halloween stores that are in the tubes, are oil based. They also need *powder or spray to set them.) Water based make-up dries, no need to used anything to set it. But if you sweat a lot, you can use a setting spray to protect it. (Alternative to setting spray, is hair spray.) But if you sweat a lot, alcohol based makeup would be best! But, you need 99% proof rubbing alcohol to put it on. To take it off, rubbing alcohol is best. Lower percentages work, but the higher % is easier. (I would not recommend alcohol based make-up for a child or novice. If for a child, don't do the face or sensitive area. Due to how hard it is to get off.)

I received my "basic" set and the red doesn't look anything like it did on Amazon. It looks more like rusty brown. Will it change when wet?
