Sturdy product with one suggested modification
I tested this product on two cameras, a Panasonic HCV 770 camcorder, a Canon Vixia HFS100 camcorder, and a Nikon D5500 DSLR with a 17-55 2.8 lens. Panasonic I got this product to use with my camcorder setup I have titled "Frankenrig". It is an HCV 770 camcorder with an uneven shoe bracket, capped with a Zoom H1n that I used simultaneously as a recorder and a shotgun microphone. I bought the CAMVATE handle with the intention of using it as a stabilizer for the camcorder. I no longer want to hold Frankenrig like I'm carrying a football. Frankenrig is top-heavy, so stability is key. The pics below relate specifically to a complication I ran into with the HCV 770. When fully inserted, the handle is a little unstable. Observe the gap in the first image. It's unstable even without all of the accessories, so I'm not sure if this is an issue for all HCV 770s or just the one I purchased. I didn't want to wear out the threading on either product with all that shakiness, and any noise from tilting the camera would have been uneditable, so I ran down to the hardware store and picked up some 1/4'" 1-1/4" fender washer and a 5/16" x 1 1/4'' x 1/16" rubber washer. The handle comes with a nylon washer as well, which I kept on the setup. I then put the metal washer on top of the nylon washer, and finally the rubber washer on top such that it would be against the base of the camera (image 2). The handle now screws in much more securely, and the camera is very stable. The gap is closed and it now takes a college try to unscrew the handle. Very secure. Try this trick if you can't find a genuine plate to modify for balance. Nikon D5500 This was less exciting, but for good reasons! This handle screwed securely into the bottom of my D5500 with no fuss at all. It was very stable even with a somewhat chunkier lens. It performed exactly as specified. It does have the same gap, but I don't think the washer trick will be necessary to stabilize the camera. Canon Vixia HFS100 Same as the Nikon, fit well and was stable without modifications. In sum, any instability was likely due to the Panasonic camcorder thread, not the handle itself. The handle is sturdy, smooth, and has plenty of room for modification. You can tell it was meant for a more elaborate rig, but this simple usage is fine, too. So far, so good!

Great product!
Solid product that extends the top handle to mii camera rig perfectly! There are your typical top handles by bigger name product brands that cost a few of your pay checks. But, THIS babii is superb at bringing you that same feature and quality, at a very affordable price! *Film maker tip: if your top handle has a hot shoe mount on the end, pair this with the "CAMVATE 5/8"-27 Male Threaded Cold Shoe Adapter to Hot Shoe," which is also very affordable, and you're set!!! **Mii camera's not shown because it's out for repairs :)

Great product
I purchased two of these mounts and may get a third. They are solid, and very useful for a variety of gear situations. Also, they can be used for short extensions to tripods, and are thick enough to be used as handle grips. With the two mounts I purchased, they create portions of a very solid cage for my iPhone—when combining with various brackets and other components (See pictures).. I am pleased with the quality, and that the base of the mount includes a ¼ inch female socket.... The only thing to note is that this mount includes a thin plastic washer (located at the base of the Included ¼ to ¼ threaded male adapter). If you mount expensive or unwieldy items to this, you should include some a rubber washer too. I highly recommend this product.

Good feel and easy to grab
Using this for my Nikon ED 80-200mm lens (screwed into lens itself, not camera) to hold it comfortably while shooting wildlife and other far away things! Much easier to control all that weight and keep it stable enough for my D750 to take care of the rest of any movement.

Excellent for Weebil-S
This works great on my Weebil-S. I think it’s more functional than other handles that are double the price. Aside from the 1/4th inch mounting point on the end, it’s covered in 1/4th and 3/8th inch points for adding multiple accessories. Nearly all other handles only give the point at the end. They look more ergonomic, but I find this handle more than comfortable enough. The open holes even add lots of breathability. Very satisfied with it. The market will have to come up with a new design to improve any further on this. Maybe more of a thicker edge on the end plate to give some better grip and avoid slippage? Could also be cheaper but photography equipment makers overcharge everything anyways.

Does exactly what I wanted it to do.
This little handle was just what I needed to help stabilize my Canon M50. Great quality, feels good in my hand, screws in tight, and feels secure. I would not hesitate to purchase it again.

Great grip, lots of options
I use this as a grip for a phone mount. I love that it is metal and very solid. The extra 1/4" slots add a ton of options for adding in other gear as well and for using this in different ways. I really like this!

well made and designed
The threaded sides of this grip let you mount as much junk as you need off the grip. It has a good feel to it and doesn't tire you out like holding a pistol grip. I ordered a second one...

My video camera is small and the fingers of my left hand kept getting in front of the lens. This handle keeps my left hand away and provides a sturdier support than my hand alone. Fortunately the camera bag has two loops on the outside that the handle fits nicely in for carrying. I'm very pleased with the product.

Buen producto solo que se atasca en el estabilizador la parte de la rosca y lo tengo que quitar con unas pinzas. Recomiendo el producto pero si estaría bien que mejoren la rosca por que se atasca.

Added it to my Zoom H6 for in the field. Works great and being metal it is solid and should last a lifetime. I may take it with me beyond that.

I needed a handle for my parabolic microphone that I could also mount a light and camera on. This is absolutely perfect!! It also lets me mount it to a tripod and pan and tilt unit.

This handle feels fantastic in the hand, sturdy, light, and smooth. But that last part is a bit of an issue...it can also feel as slick as a bar of soap at times. I ended up wrapping it with a leather tennis racket handle wrap, which takes away from the sturdy feel a bit, but returns a great deal of reassurance.
