it probably is a little more breakable than the plastic we've all gotten used to, but of course that's the whole reason we are all trying to stop using plastic, isn't it? because it's indestructable. sadly, we can't have our cake and eat it too. but this was so much better than I ever imagined and is very very workable. I even had a couple of very tight teeth. I did gentle sawing as another poster mentioned, and really it was great. I feel so much better about using this instead of the plastic stuff.

I'm impressed. I thought this floss would break between my teeth, because most flosses either fray or break between my tight back teeth with some rough/sharp areas. I also have some teeth with larger gaps between them, and many flosses don't do a good job of grabbing stuff from these wider spaces without a lot of work and manual gymnastics on my part, unless they're the wider dental tape sorts. (And even then.) This floss...I don't know what they do to it or if it's just the properties of the silk they use and the kind of wax coating...but it not only glides well enough to get between my tightest teeth, but it's also kind of...abrasive? grippy?...even though it's not wide, and it does an amazing job of grabbing all the stuff out with one or maybe two passes between the same teeth...instead of seven passes with my 'normal' dental tape. (Hardly exaggerating.) I was worried about breakage and I needn't be. Even with 2-3 passes between my tightest and most notoriously floss-cutting teeth, this floss doesn't fray or break! But yet it never gets stuck, either. Amazing! Whoever designed the weave of this stuff or whatever they did--never change! This is great! :D And I love that I can do better by the environment at absolutely zero drawback for me in change of flosses!

The material and concept is great, that being floss that's biodegradable by being made of silk. In practice, however, it's still just more expensive string floss, which is so finicky to use, and the material itself tears and breaks more often than conventional floss. Really makes me wish they used the same material in a biodegradable (wood..?) or reusable (metal!) floss pick. Now that would be something! I'll probably use this as some kind of twine.
