I need a Firewire cable to transfer data from my old HD. This cable works great for my iMac. Great quality cable. I am going to watch and see if cable disintegrate. Because, I have seen old cables with soft coating that turned into sticky goo~.

Works with MacBook as it SHOULD (FireWire400-FireWire800 cable)
I needed to access my old FireWire 400 hard drives to MacBook Pro that has Thunderbolt. The Apple Thunderbolt adapter (from Ebay) connects to FireWire800 and I used this cable to connect 800 to 400 external HD SUCCESSFULLY so far. I have connected 2 different external HD and 2 IPod gen2 using this cable and the Apple adapter successfully. Great product so far after 2 weeks.

Didn’t work for my setup
I wasn’t able to get this cable to work with my setup, even though it appeared compatible. It may have been a compatibility or user issue, but it didn’t work as expected for me.
