I don't care what the name is this thing is great
Absolutely flawless pedal, by far the best looper I personally have ever used (haven't been able to use the $300+ loopers yet so my opinion is limited in that regard). I particularly like the halfspeed function, it yields a lot of interesting possibilities with your overdubs. Watch any one of the youtube demos of this pedal and you'll see what I mean. As far as quantization goes, a lot of people (in other places on the internet) have complained about there being no quantize features. After having used this pedal for several months, I understand why that feature could be so helpful--if you're even slightly off on your timing, the loop will fall out of phase after X amount of cycles (depending on how far off you were initially). You could either work this into the performance and stop/restart after certain lapses of time, or you could work on making your timing better, which is what you should ideally be doing as a musician anyway. In that regard, I don't think the lack of quantization is even remotely a downside for this pedal considering all of its features for how inexpensive it is. I'm by no means a virtuoso and I'm probably not as good as many would-be guitarists you'd find on the street, but even I was able to eventually get my timing right to use this looper in conjunction with a drum machine WITHOUT phasing issues. It just took some practice. And that's where this pedal really shines: it makes practicing guitar extremely fun and newly inspiring, especially if you've been playing the same sh*t for too long and have run out of ideas. Having an option for a dedicated stop switch takes away the nuisance of double tapping the main switch every time to stop a loop, and the footswitches themselves are the softer-engage style (have no idea what the proper term is) that is easier to tap than the average footswitches that are rough on bare feet. You'll also enjoy layering with the various effects (reverse and half speed--watch the youtube demos), and with everything considered you'll probably be pleased with the results, not to mention the high audio quality of the loop itself (which shouldn't be understated). For $170 (I got mine ten dollars less when the price fell for a few weeks), you cannot buy a better looper than this. You just can't.

Guitar Loop HEAVEN!
DUDE, THIS THING IS KILLER! I literally played for 3 or 4 hours and didn't even realize it last night. It's sooo fun and easy to use. So far I play the rhythm guitar and fill in the leads. For example, Big City Lights by The Scorpions. I play/record the first 2 rhythm measures and keep it recording and play nothing and hum out the rest of what I want to learn and stop recording. It will keep looping including the silence and you can fill it in obviously. After a few attempts(not recording just playing along) you start to realize how fast you should be playing and you learn 3X as fast because you played ALL OF IT, even though it's not all live. It's kinda hard to explain, to me I just get the biggest smile on my face having a rhythm guitar player that never gets tired.. or misses a beat :P You will need a power supply though, 9V at least 100 mAh. I got one on here for 10 bucks. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00191WVF6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s04?ie=UTF8&psc=1 There i'll make it easy for you. There is NO place for a battery, which is ok for me I guess. Seriously a must have for all guitar players, heck even any instruments with a 1/4th jack, to my knowledge. THANK YOU SO MUCH TC ELECTRONICS AND AMAZON!!!

Inspiring, clever, and with brilliant sound quality, this is a winner.
Years ago, I bought the stomp box looper that was the industry leader's current model at the time. (Fire engine red, rhymes with LOSS, the model number was RC-2.) In the meantime, they've updated that model, so I can't speak about their current quality. With pre-programmed drum loops and the possibility to connect a separate "stop" foot-switch, you'd think that that device would have an advantage over the x2. But as I found out in five short minutes of testing the Ditto, sound quality is everything. The Ditto plays back your loop sounding exactly like the original. You may not even notice that your looper can't do that, until you feel the difference. This is huge. I'd even say my old unit made the sound of the "live" playing worse. With the Ditto, you find yourself playing like you would with a buddy, as opposed to a machine. It's remarkably easy to get the loops to "fit", because it's so intuitive, and the soft touch foot switches allow for quick and precise punching in and out. Having a dedicated stop switch makes a world of difference. Reverse and half-speed are fun, but they don't amount to much more than fun little jokes that you'll play around with for a while before getting tired of them. One possible exception: You might consider recording a guitar loop while the x2 is in half-speed mode, then speed it up and play a bass line, slow it back down, and you'll have something that sounds almost like a real bass guitar (if your playing is precise enough). But it's more convenient and convincing to hook up an actual bass to the second input. Again: The absolute winning characteristic of this thing is the stellar sound quality. I'll give my little red toy looper to a needy nephew and loop on in CD quality. If you've got a good setup for your acoustic, that works like a charm as well, by the way. Hurray.

Great, best looper! Buttons sometimes break.
Great working looper! My favorite! But it's a FORTH one (in 7 or 8 years). The buttons break. I've fixed them twice in a shop, but it's not cheap, and i can't wait for a long time, i play many gigs. Is there a way to improve the buttons, guys? You are the best electronically, be the best in hardware too please!

Slowly getting to grips with the 2 pedals and successfully did a nice 12 bar loop with 3 part harmony, and yes, with a mike overdubbed on the guitar tracks. More interested in a straight 4.5 minute backing drum track used non-loop, and overdubbing from there. It took 1 minute 15 seconds to sync in 45 megs of wav file after I undocked the ditto X2 and will add tracks from there using the drum track as a metronome. The possibilities are pretty exciting as to what can be done with this neat contraption. Reminds me of my recording days back in the 60's. Just love it !!!!
