Q: How will I know when the max cable length is reached? Does it stop turning or what?

I took mine apart to install a longer cable. The cable diameter is increased slightly at the end such that it will not feed out even if the trigger is pulled. Also at the end you will notice a red colored inner core, appears to be thin nylon cord. Lastly the very end is fastened to the inner housing with a screw and washer, plus increased diameter (again) to help prevent slipping out where it is fastened.

Q: Does it have the ability to accept interchangable heads?

Hi. No you cannot use interchangeable head. The Cable and head are one unit. You can change the complete cable.

Q: I need a 50 foot cable. Can I detach the 25 foot cable and attach a 50 foot cable?

Yes, I have installed a 50 ft 1/4" cable in mine. This Ridgid is more robust than most and the auto feed is a nice feature. But, do not leave more than 4-5 inches out from the drain opening while spinning. Go slow and easy when you come to an obstruction.

Q: Can I remove the 1/4" snake and put my own 3/8" diameter snake inside this drum? If so can I put 50 feet in it or trim mine?

Highly doubtful the feed mechanism will work correctly with a larger diameter than what it is specifically made for.
