Good value for pour over coffee prep
Used for pour over coffee. Works great and looks nice on the countertop. Nice controllable flow rate although I wished I could go even slower. Was comparing this to the Takahiro, which is twice the price and I went for this to see if it would work. As to reviewers knocking off a star because the cover gets hot? Adding wood , rubber or other insulating materials to the cover will reduce its durability. With all stainless construction, this is much more durable. 0.7l is perfect for making one serving of pour over coffee. Doesn't take too much space in the kitchen. Made in Japan, another plus for quality.

I love this pouring kettle
I love this pouring kettle. Gives me perfect flow control for my morning pour over coffee. Here's the details: I usually make coffee for myself using a small Chemex. My girlfriend has to fill it up a couple of times to make our large weekend pour over in a big Chemex. Not too big of a issue though since we don't use this kettle on the stove (it's a bit small for the burner). Instead we use a larger KitchenAid kettle to boil the water. Then pour it into this little darling to get the fine control over the flow. And it's beautiful, which also makes me happy. I will say that the top lid can get hot (it's all metal too), but I just don't use it while I pour. Super well made too. Feels like it will last forever. If you think using two kettles to make coffee is a ridiculous deal breaker, yet somehow tolerate boiling your own water to hand pour over coffee grounds, then I really just don't know what to tell you.

Looks wonderful, a beauty to use, once you know how to use it. Forces you to use "pulse" method for single pour-overs only!
Beautiful and worth it once you figure out how to use it. I also use it for single serving pour overs with the kalita wave 155, now here's where I find it fails (compared to the same manufacturer's Kalita Coffee Kettle Wave Pot 1L): For a single pour over, I find that it has a minimum output flow that is a bit too fast for a slowly controlled pour over. To be able to reach the stream coming out of this pot equally around the entirety of the Kalita wave 155 surface area, at a proper slow continuous pour (you must tip the pot more upgright for a more upright angle), the spout annoyingly bumps against the Kalita 155 wave edge. This forces you to use it with the 'pulse' method with a higher rate of water in pulses. Now, I could grind the beans a bit finer to slow the pour over as well, but I don't want to, I want to control the water flow by hand, which this pot is not as good as the Kalita Coffee Kettle Wave Pot 1L. That being said, it's beautiful to look at, well made and I will probably bring it to the office to use for pour overs there and make my office mates jealous. The 1L pot, has a finer spout and I bump the edge of the kalita wave (155 or 185) less, and can pour a slower stream of water, but I need to use twice the amount of water to preheat the pot and pour over itself which is a waste in itself, so I still use this 0.7L pot for single pour overs. Note: I use it mainly as a transfer pot from my water boiler to kalita wave. Here's my procedure if you wanted to know. 1. Hand grind 20 gm beans to 'course table salt' consistency 2. fill up this pot 1/4 way to pre heat it and pre-wet my kalita wave filter, empty out the water of this pot, and empty out the water from my wave and carafe 3. re-fill this pot up with just boiled water about 1/2-2/3 way and water temps reach about 204 degrees F 4. do the pour over by pre-wetting grinds (30 seconds), then pour with pulse method aiming for 2.5 minutes total (by the time the water leaves the spout and into the wave, it reads in the upper 180s and lower 190s F). And yes, as the others have pointed out, the top becomes super hot to touch after done with a pour over, I 'seared' my finger a few times already forgetting this, annoying and wish it were a wooden piece. As a I use it as a transfer pot, the handle is perfect to handle by hand only.

Very high quality.
Needless to say, this little kettle is not only cute but very sturdy and made to the highest standards. I ordered from Sasuke and it arrived in 11 days from Japan to Vegas. It performs flawless. I'm using an induction and it heats up extremely fast. I don't really notice the handle getting extremely hot but I guess that's because of the induction. It's very well build and has really improved my pour over technique. A little gem at a very affordable price and value for money. Highly recommended.

Nice quality SMALL stovetop kettle
WAY smaller than I was expecting but otherwise a great TINY kettle. On an induction stove, the handle doesn't get hot when positioned correctly. Does not whistle. Pours very nicely. Base is not nearly large enough to cover the cooktop element but it still works.

A beautiful, shiny but sturdy kettle with great control.
Wanting to master my pour-overs, I searched for a nice goose neck kettle. I didn't like Harios very much. They seem cheap, and to be honest, they're pretty ugly. I saw Kalita, and even though it was 20 bucks more, I knew it was the choice. It's shiny and beautiful, displays perfectly on my espresso machine, right next to a wooden tamper that compliments it. Built quality is very good. So far, no leaks, no problems whatsoever. It's made in Japan and quality of Japanese coffee accessories is usually excellent. It's not heavy though, and not too thick. That does not stop it from holding heat properly. Water temperature cools down pretty slowly in this kettle, so you'll be able to make your pourovers even better by extracting coffee at the same temperature throughout those 2-3 minutes. Water control is also excellent. Two tips. Be careful not to tilt it too much, or hot burning water will come out through the opening and burn your hands. You have to be patient, let the kettle release water through the spout (unless it's not hot of course). Second, after a few uses, you will see yucky finger and water prints left on your shiny kettle. Of course it's inevitable. Making coffee is messy. But a great way to make it shine again is to just use a microfiber cloth. No chemicals necessary, wipe it with the cloth and it will shine again. Overall, well worth the investment, will serve for many years and presents itself beautifully in your kitchen.

Empower the pourover
Kewt. Made in Japan. 18/8 Stainless Steel. The handle is kinda meh: it’s two flat bands of steel, w/smooth edges, but no shaping or style to speak of. Max capacity: Just under 3 cups/750ml, if you have three impatient friends you’ll need a bigger pot. Diameter of base: about 3.75in/9.5cm. The bottom does have a small indented area, about 1.5 in/3.5cm. This kettle wouldn’t fit on my gas stove grates without a supportive base/flametamer-type device. I boil water in an Oster electric kettle ( Oster BVST-EK5967-NP Digital Temperature Control Kettle, 1.7-Liter ), so bought the Kalita for the easier pouring experience. For me, the price was a smidge steep, but chose the Kalita over the Hario because of the one piece construction, more pleasing design and it was made in Japan. I don’t use the lid, but it does fit a bit loose on the kettle. The handle is comfortable to hold and stays cool when the kettle contains hot water. It is much easier to control the water flow than pouring from my Oster kettle or Pyrex measuring cup ( Pyrex Prepware 2-Cup Glass Measuring Cup with Lid ). After several days of use I’m very happy with the Kalita and it does add to my enjoyment of making coffee.

High quality but small with poorly designed handle
Overall, I like the kettle. It holds enough water for several cups of coffee or tea so the size is sufficient. I have had it for several weeks and the shine holds up well. The pour is also very even and smooth. Cons: It look a little underwhelming on my stovetop. The handle can get hot if you don't position the kettle so that it is away from the heat of the stove. Top rattles a small amount, it could be more snug. Not a fan of the Kalita logo.

Kalita Stylish Stainless Pot (0.7L0
I use this for pour over coffee. I love it. I pour hot water from my kettle to this pot and then over my coffee grounds. Suits my needs well as my kettle does not have temperature settings so this step gets the water to the temperature that I want. In the time that the hot water is in this pot it does not get the handle hot.
