Not for tall guys, at least
I think the magic is in where the length hits on the thigh muscle. 6" is perfect for most because this is where the end is just at or over the peak. Thus, the legs stay down while offsetting the slingshot effect of briefs. 9", the ends are so far past the peak that it's stifling unless you are very lanky. Likewise, as someone 6'1", the 3" just isn't working out. The ends ride up and the waistband remains as high as ever, the effect being something like old-school full-cut briefs. Went back to 6" and voila, perfect. Wish they made a proper trunk.
