Canon Battery Charger CG-800

The battery that comes standard with almost any camcorder usually doesn't last very long. The solution is to get an extra battery, preferably with extended life. The problem, of course, is that it takes a long time to charge those puppies. You can always have a couple ready to go in the morning, but if you are recording all day you'll want to charge up your spare while the other is in use.That's where this battery charger comes in handy. I bought it for use with my Canon VIXIA HF10 and my HFS10, and it works great. As others have noted it charges your batteries a lot more quickly than if they were plugged in to the camcorder - plus it saves some wear and tear on the adapter plug for your camcorder.Best of all, this is very compact. It fits in a little side pocket of my camcorder case and leaves room to spare. The plug flips in and out for easy storage. If you plan to get a lot of use out of your Vixia camcorder, this is really a must-have accessory. Highly recommended.

We only use our video camera once a year to film cattle for a sale. Had a knockoff charger and it broke. Decided canon would be best since that is what our camera is. It charged the battery quicker and it's easy to use.

Canon know how to make quality products. The only problem is they know it and they design their devices to intentionally not work with third party equipment.The charger is designed extremely compact. It had a folding wall plug that appears sturdy. The battery clips in nicely. Above all it charges the batteries perfectly.Thank you Canon for making good stuff, my credit card company thanks you as well. It is just so darn expensive for what it does.

The battery charger is very useful, especially if you're in a hurry. I bought the Canon BP-819 battery and it took about 2 hours to charge which is quicker than using the camcorder to charge. There are only 2 issues that I have with the charger.1. It gets really hot, so if you have children around becareful.2. I think it is pricey for this charger. Wish Canon would include it with the camcorder but that is where Canon gets you to buy their product.Overall, good product. If you plan to be recording and you need a quick charge, this will be helpful.

So up until this point, I've exclusively been using the charger that came with the camera since I bought it in 2011. You know the drill: uncover the hole, plug it in, make sure the two pieces are firmly connected, plug it into the wall, set your camera out somewhere and charge. I frequently worried about my cat jumping on the cable or chewing on it. And honestly the whole thing was kind of awkward for me. So needless to say, a charger that allows me to leave my camera safely in its bag, free of cables and with a light that tells me quite clearly when it's done charging (which doesn't take long), I love! Did I mention that you can charge and shoot at the same time? I think it's very expensive for a charger, and not to mention the cost of the Battery Pack 828! The thing here is that it is reliable, not like one from Wasabi which I bought a few months ago and it just burned (almost exploded!) after a week of use.

The CG-800 battery charger is an excellent accessory. I use this to charge my batteries for my VIXIA HF200. The HF200 ships with a BP-809 battery pack, which is not really enough to record long events, therefore most people will pick up another battery, probably a BP-819 or a BP-827. This is where this charger comes in handy because it allows you to charge one battery while using the other. Otherwise you'd have to stop using the camera, find the AC adapter, charge one battery, wait, then charge the other. Clearly not the idea with small hand held cameras like the HF200.The charger itself is small and light and weighs just 2.8 ounces. It also has folding power plugs, which are a great feature. It has two LEDs one which is orange which is lit while charging and and another that is green and lights when the battery is fully charged. The only drawback to this thing is the price, but you will be giving this accessory a lot of use if you have two or more batteries. This charger will be in your camera bag, guaranteed.

I wanted to purchase this charger to charge my Canon video camera batteries instead of using the camera itself to charge them (this charger doesn't come included with some Canon video cameras). This charges them MUCH quicker than using the camera. It's an OEM charger, so you won't need to worry about it being an aftermarket and not working in any way.
