Good little counter top dishwasher
I received our new Hermitlux counter top dishwasher yesterday evening, a full 4 days sooner than originally anticipated. It was very well boxed and the dishwasher arrived in perfect condition. I knew from reading other reviews that it was important to measure your counter space to make sure this item would fit. I new ahead of time that this wouldn't fit under my cupboards, so I had made space on the counter next to sink to accommodate it, especially the drain hose which is just long enough. I had read other reviews that stated they couldn't get the suction cup on the drain hose to work with their sink. We didn't have that issue and the dishwasher has drained well each of the 3 times we've already used it since receiving it. The directions are very poor, but the unit is pretty straight forward and was easy to set up and to use. I've used it 3 times on the 29 minute cycle only. At the end of each cycle, I took the dishes out of the dishwasher and placed them in the rack to dry. The dishwasher uses about 5 pitchers full of water. I had no issues pouring the water into the water compartment and once the unit is turned on, it does beep when the water compartment is full. The directions don't say this, but it appears to me that the dishwasher cycles 3 times. It drained once about 1/3 through the 29 minute cycle and the water was soapy and close to the temperature at which I used when I poured the water in before starting the cycle. The second drain happened 2/3 of time into the cycle and the water was cleaner and warmer. On the third and final drain, the water was quite hot and clear. The dishwasher does get the dishes very clean and I'm quite happy in that regard. What I'm not happy about is the choice of photo shopped pictures that lead one to believe that this unit is larger than it is. I include one of the sellers own "photos" showing placement of cups, bowls, plates and silver ware that are no where close to being a true representation of what this dishwasher is capable of. I have included my own unaltered pictures that show a true representation of what will fit in this ting. It's ok, but nearly as big as one is lead to believe. The silverware basket is a joke. I had to take the basket top off completely because literally none of my silverware would fit into the tiny holes set up for a single piece of silverware. Taking the top off did allow me to get some silverware in there and it seemed to work ok. The cup rack on top can be pushed up out of the way if not needed. I don't have a single cup that fits that rack. It's so small you might be able to get a couple tiny espresso cups to fit, but a single regular 10 ounce cup, let alone my 14 ounce cups. It works pretty good for holding larger utensils and small baby bottles. Everything came out very clean . Oh, it will only accommodate plates up to 10.5 inches. And those have to be angled slightly before the rack can be pushed in. This unit is very limited as to how many pieces if kitchen ware its going to clean in one cycle. But it's a good stopgap for us until we can get a new full size dishwasher. It's way better than hand washing and I feel the final cycle gets hot enough that the dishes are full rinsed and cleaned. For the price, it's worth it. Edit: I changed my rating from 4 to 5 stars. I've had this dishwasher a full month now and I love it. All the dishes come out so clean and I've learned how to arrange dishes to maximize wash load. It's so easy to use. In a normal day, I wash 2 loads of dishes. For me, that's doable and with how well this little machine cleans, it's worth to me.

Your dishes will be spotless and your sanity will be saved.
I have been using this for almost two months and have had ZERO issues. I would definitely recommend this countertop dishwasher. (I am VERY frugal/low income and was afraid to spend so much on a tiny machine, but it's worth it!!!) FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: The brand new machines are testes in the factory so you will most likely receive one that has some water in it. DO NOT WORRY. The paperwork in the box explains that this is normal. Everytime you run the machine there will be a little standing water under the filter. I take out the filter to clean and absorb the excess water with a towel or sponge and it's fine. (See pics) I absolutely hate doing dishes but it's almost fun with this little machine. The way I've used this by filling the reservoir with water because my faucet doesn't have the right connector and I want to be able to use the sink while the dishwasher is running. It takes about three pitchers worth of water to fill up. Be careful when pouring or it might splash! Also, the drain spout attaches on the right back of the machine and it is pretty long, about 4 feet, so it can reach the other side of my sink no problem. I do think the suction cup could be stronger but you can easy tuck the hose down the drain or put something against it so it doesn't budge. ALSO, make sure the hose is not going UP or coiled around so it can drain properly via gravity. Some reviews mentioned putting the hose into a large bucket underneath to drain the machine so that's a good solution. Dishes come out super clean and I haven't noticed any soap residue (I've used a big name brand one before that always left white film on my glassware and silicone tools with the same soap used). Be mindful when loading though, because the sprayers can only reach so much. I've only had trouble when putting utensils on top of other dishes, otherwise everything gets clean when loaded according to the instructions. (See photo) This WILL NOT fit bigger plates, but my appetizer plates fit great. I can fit about as many dushes as my dish drainer rack holds, so it's a good size for one or two people's dishes from one day (other than larger bows or pans). It CAN fit the bowl from my standard sized InstantPot with a little room. The filter is easy to remove and clean. The soap goes in a little indent in the door so no worrying about the little trays like a bigger washer. I've been using the Finish Gelpacs and have no complaints, but I want to try classic liquid detergent so I can compare (I will update this review if I do). There is an LED screen that shows what temperature the water is and a countdown timer so you know when the load will be done. It also shows if you need to add water or if the sink connection isn't connected. (Little red symbols in photo) To cycle through the options, you press "selection" instead of the name of the cycle, which was a little confusing at first. I always run it with the heat dry setting on, which you have to click the touch-button that says DRY to do. There is also a pause button and a power button (hold power for two seconds to turn on/off, every other button just needs a quick tap). The vent is on the RIGHT side of the machine, so make sure it's not blocked so the steam can escape. I always leave the door cracked when it's empty to make sure it doesn't get musty, but I'm guessing the vent would be good enough on its own (I'm just extra cautious). I love the glass window so I can make sure everything is getting clean so I definitely recommend spending the extra instead of getting the option with no glass. The only complaints I have are pretty minor: Some of the areas of the rack are strangely laid out so fitting dishes in can be a bit of a magic trick. Once you figure it out, it's not so bad though. This sits to the right of my sink but the taller part of the rack is on the left, so I have to reach around that to load stuff. (see pics). If your counter is different so you can put the matching to the left of your sink, this should not be an issue. The silverware basket doesn't have consistently sized holes, so I can only fit small spoons or chopsticks in one of the sections. Also, the back of the machine where the basket sits has a little indent so all knives will have to push forward to fit so you need to load those in the frontal section of the basket. (See photos) This machine is pretty tall but luckily my cabinets are hung high so it fits on my counter. . I'm pretty sure I covered everything. Happy shopping!

A Lifesaver for otherwise awful circumstance!
Living in an apartment with poor water pressure led to the untimely demise of my main dishwasher's impeller, a situation my complex manager has unfortunately chosen not to address. Which led me to searching out for another solution that didn't involve me purchasing and installing another full size dishwasher and letting my rental agency line their pockets. This compact dishwasher has not only solved this issue but also brought a great deal of relief to my family, especially to my wife, who is on dialysis and thus appreciates the reduced physical strain of not having to wash dishes by hand. Here are my thoughts on it so far, after 3 week of use: Installation & Setup: Simple and straightforward, the setup was a breeze. This aspect was crucial for me, considering the need to find an immediate solution to my broken main dishwasher, and as I work 6 days a week as the sole income - didn't need or have the energy to get into yet another fight with yet another kitchen appliance. Design & Capacity: Despite its modest size, this little powerhouse holds a surprising amount of dishes. It's stylish too. It fits right beneath our cupboards on the counter. We do need to pull it out to fill it, but that's a mild inconvenienc.e Cleaning Performance: The dishes come out impeccably clean every time, which I was pleasantly surprised by, I was not so keen as to the machine's effective cleaning capabilities. I usually opt for the ‘Eco’ mode, which is both energy-efficient and thorough. For tougher stuff, I put it on "strong" and toss in an extra pod. I would recommend using pods against powder, despite the manufacture recommendation, as the powders seem to leave a residue. Haven't tried jet dry or anything yet, but maybe I will in the future if finances make me be a bit less bougie and I have to go back to powder. Noise Level: Its whisper-quiet operation is also impressive. Being almost silent, it doesn't add any noise stress, which is particularly beneficial in our living situation, as we have a rather finicky two year old. Heat & Drying: The internal heating mechanism not only cleans the dishes effectively (seen it get all the way up to 149 degrees inside; if you open the door during the cycle, it shows the temp inside on the screen, which is a nice safety feature) but also dries them quickly due to the residual heat, bypassing the need for an additional drying cycle, which I thought was pretty neat. It does have some kind of drying cycle, but you don't need to wait for it. The instructions say something about circulating air through it for 72 hours, but as of yet I haven't noticed any kind of whirring, maybe that's select models? Water & Energy Efficiency: Considering the water pressure issues in my apartment, I was again pleasantly surprised at how little water this unit consumes – about 1.2 gallons per cycle – without compromising on performance. I've noticed virtually no change to my water bill, despite running it daily. Ease of Use: The user-friendly interface, with its clear LED display, makes operating this dishwasher effortless. This feature has been particularly helpful for my wife, allowing her to manage the dishwashing process without any issues whastoever. Maintenance: Easy-to-clean filters are super easy to snap out, wash and put right back in with minimal trouble. Areas for Improvement: While the dishwasher is nearly perfect for our needs, fitting larger plates can be a bit challenging. Nonetheless, this is a minor inconvenience compared to the overall benefits it provides. I wish it came with a faucet adapter. Conclusion: The Hermitluxe Countertop Dishwasher has been a game-changer in our household. It has effectively addressed the unique challenges we face in our apartment, making life easier for my wife and me. It's been a significant improvement to our daily lives. I highly recommend it to anyone facing similar challenges or simply looking for a reliable, compact dishwashing solution.

small, but mighty
Just received it yesterday. Washed a few things last night and more this morning. It is fairly quiet when in use, and will take my 10" dinner plates without having to angle them, which some other machines don't. It seems to clean well. I've only tried the Quick cycle thus far. Dishes have come out clean and dry after wash an dry are complete. I have it in a rolling cart as my counter space is limited, and cabinets only have a 13" space underneath in my very small galley kitchen. At 23 pounds, it is a bit heavy to pick up and move around on a frequent basis. No apparent water leaks around the door during operation, and the touch controls respond immediately and reliably. A few things to keep in mind - the inlet hose requires an adapter that isn't supplied to connect to the threads on my faucet. I have one on order, as i prefer not to have to fill the tank with the pitcher., though it's not all that bad. Three pitcher fills. My mugs won't fit on the cup shelf, too tall. my flatware handles are just about too big to fit throug the top of the silverware basket, and the standard knives fit blade down. The drain hose will have some residual water. I have elevated the unit so the drain tube outlet is slightly above the edge of the sink which may help, but I think I also need to look into making it shorter, or just plan on putting the drain hose in a small bucket before I roll the cart away from the sink. As i recently fell and don't have use of one arm, it is a great help. Definitely worth a look in my view, but won't know how it holds up long-term.

IMPROVE YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE WITH THIS PORTABLE DISHWASHER!!
Okay. So I intentionally waited a whole year before writing a review on this portable dishwasher. I did this to make sure that I was able to accurately assess durability over time, as well as effectiveness. SPOILER ALERT--it still works just as great now as it did on Day 1. In fact, I'm using it right now, as I write this review.... Now I grew up during a time when parents would give their children something called "chores" to do. If you don't know what "chores" are, you're very lucky. Somehow, my daily chore was washing dishes. By hand. No dishwasher. I once asked my folks at the dinner table if we could get a dishwasher installed. What did I say that for?!? The reaction to my apparent blasphemy was immediate: My mom stopped, mid-chew, and gave me a look that could have turned Medusa herself into stone. My dad, seeing this, laughed out loud and answered [tongue-in-cheek] "Your mother and I already have 4 dishwashers--and we don't need to plug y'all in! Now. Go do the dishes. I'm sure your brothers thank you for volunteering, don't you boys..." That pretty-much settled the matter. Anyway, fast-forward about 30 years and I live in a rental apartment that-most unfortunately-did not come with a built-in dishwasher. To this day, hand-washing dishes is still my most hated house chore. So much so, that I would let dirty dishes sit in the sink for days at a time until there's no more room in the sink. Then, instead of washing the dishes, I would just stop cooking and get take-out everyday. All, to avoid hand-washing dishes, as though the dirty dishes would suddenly disappear, or get up and wash themselves, or something. And then, one day, my whole life changed! I know that sounds a little hyperbolic, but that's the only way I can describe what happened....I was browsing on Amazon [having totally abandoned that sink full of dishes, of course] and this wonderous invention appeared in my You-May-Also-Like thread. I was actually browsing for something completely unrelated, by the way. As soon as I saw it, my jaw fell to the floor. Phrases like "Why didn't I know about this?" and "Where has this been all my life?" came to mind. A portable dishwasher--who knew!!! The company that makes this just got a little bit richer, because that day, I hit Add-To-Cart immediately. But I consider myself a savvy shopper, so I made sure to read the reviews, the good ones and the bad ones, before I took that proverbial leap-of-faith. When it was delivered and I unwrapped it, it had condensation inside. DO NOT PANIC about that; it's supposed to come that way, as the manufacturer runs each machine through a full cycle for quality assurance just before shipping it out. I make a point to mention this, because some of the negative reviews were complaining about this, as though it were some kind of problem. In fact, the manufacturer has a video of this very process posted right here on Amazon. So, give it a watch. Now you can set it up to operate in one of two configurations. You can connect the dishwasher directly to your kitchen plumbing, or you can simply fill it with water manually by pouring water into it's top opening. Personally, I do it manually, since I live in a rental and I don't want to tamper with the plumbing, and I am definitely NOT a plumber, either. It uses only about 1.5 to 2 gallons of water for a complete load wash and rinse, as opposed to the nearly 10 gallons of water needed to hand-wash dishes in the sink. [Yes, I did compare water usage.] The dishwasher has several speed settings as well. I won't go too deep into that; it's in the user manual. But I will say this. I can confirm and attest that the dishwasher does also clean small pots and pans and skillets, as well as dishware and utensils. I mention this specifically, because I did not see anything about whether or not pots and pans and skillets could be cleaned. If it will fit inside the machine [even at an angle] the dishwasher will function. Then, I kinda went on a crazy cleaning blitz, and washed all sorts of things in there: All of those reusable plastic take-out containers I had accumulated; I took down the glass enclosure from the ceiling fan lights; the light bulb covers from the kitchen, bathroom, front and back porch; I even disassembled the chandelier and washed the glass pieces in this dishwasher. All came out bright and sparkly like brand new! Even the grease catchers from my electric stove burners came out clean! As for which type of soap to use, DO NOT use regular dish soap for hand-washing dishes, under any circumstances, as the resulting bubble-action will cause a malfunction. I cannot emphasize this more strongly [I learned this the hard way]. You MUST use dishwasher gel designed for use in dishwashers. I know that there are powders and even pods designed for dishwashers, but I have found out [from my year-long experience] that dishwasher gel is the most effective by far. So, think "Cascade" not "Dawn". When in use, the dishwasher itself is totally silent. All you will hear is the gentle sloshing sound of the water as the dishes are being washed. Personally, the sloshing sound is quite soothing to me; I have actually fallen to sleep listening to it several times. Imagine the sound that water makes when you are slowly rowing a boat on a calm lake. OMG! I didn't realize that I had written a book here; maybe it was the soothing sounds of my dishes now being washed for me that has allowed the words to come flowing! Well, my dishes are done. Oh, PS and by the way, It dries the dishes spotless, too! Enjoy!

A dream come true!
Oh, how I needed this dishwasher! I live in an apartment that has no dishwasher, and only a tiny single-tub kitchen sink. Doing dishes the last 4 years has been an absolute pain. I loathed dishes. Hated dishes. I got to the point I was using only paper plates and plastic utensils so I could just throw them away instead of hand washing every utensil and plate and dish. If I had a double-tub sink, I wouldn't mind dishes so much since you have a wash and rinse side. I love to cook, but over the years, I stopped cooking very much, simply because I hated my dish washing situation. Due to health problems, I had to change my diet up substantially, which meant a ton of cooking at home. One night, I stumbled on these compact countertop dishwashers. Huh, that could work... But at $300, I was a little leery about dropping so much on a tiny dishwasher. Do I go 2 or 4 place? Can I fit a 6 place? After some measurements, I decided I had no counter space to put a 6-place dishwasher. But I did have a spot, away from my kitchen sink, that I could fit this 4-place dishwasher. The problem with that spot is it's so far away from the sink. No hoses or tubing would realistically reach that far. That's where this Hermitlux Countertop Dishwasher with built-in water tank came in handy. I could just fill it with the included jug. And as for the dirty water, I simply run the tubing into a 5-gallon bucket that I dump out after a cycle or two have run. The dishwasher has more room in it than I thought it would. While I can't wash any of my medium to large pots and pans, the small ones fit just fine. It holds plenty of silverware, as well as several plates, bowls, and cups. I can easily fit 1-3 sets of dishes from my meals depending on what I make. For things that don't fit, I still just handwash them. My 8x8 baking pans and bread pans also fit just fine. Another reason I wanted this dishwasher is for sanitation. Hand washing only gets you so far. There will always be nooks and crannies that you can't scrub, or you might miss a spot. There is zero guarantee you're handwash job sanitized those dishes: it's more likely there's still billions of germs all over it. 167 degrees F is hot enough to sanitize and kill pretty much everything except for rare exotic strains that wouldn't be around your food anyways. Some of these dishwashers go up to 190F which I wouldn't have minded, but those temperatures are more likely to warp your plasticware. The dishwasher is very quiet, I just hear the gentle trickle of water splashing around. And I love the glass door. It's weirdly fun to watch your soiled dishes magically become clean. I use Finish All-in-one Ultra Powerball tablets and they work great. My dishes are left extraordinarily clean, and glassware has a beautiful crystal-clear shine to it. Overall, I highly recommend this dishwasher if you have limited space in your home. It was an absolute lifesaver. It turned me from a dishes-hater to a dishes-lover!!

Great for houses and apartments without a dishwasher
Update for January 2026: Dishwasher is still amazing! Don’t hesitate; just buy it if your home lacks a dishwasher. Future you will thank you! I only wish the company made a larger portable version. I would probably trade in for that if it has the same performance. Original review: Only a couple weeks into having this and I can’t believe I didn’t think of a countertop dishwasher before now! This machine is great! We just hosted a giant Thanksgiving dinner for family and this machine did wonderfully. If you’re thinking about getting a countertop, do it. You won’t regret it! We got a countertop dishwasher because we rent and I really didn’t want to spend money on a rolling dishwasher that could take up more space, and frankly, they typically have poorer reviews overall. It’s not large but it fits enough for daily loads for our family of 3. For Thanksgiving, we had many more people and it was so nice to load it while cooking and running it so that after dinner we had an easy clean up of what dishes we used to eat and drink. My Corelle dinner plates that I’ve owned for years fit perfectly in it along with many other things. Its small size also helps with counter space so we still have room to prep food, set out plates, etc. Because I simply don’t want to deal with a hose, we use the water tank option, which is convenient and opens up our sink for additional use. Set up was easy. Because of other reviews, I made sure the drain hose was facing downward in the sink basin next to it and just put our drying rack right over it to ensue it stays down for draining. Drains very well doing that! The heat drying feature works well and I really like the fact that it circulates fresh air for up to 73 hours afterwards. I’ve seen a few reviews about the smell of the dishwasher but I always use a tiny bit of vinegar in every load (along with a dishwasher pod), so I think it helps with the smell that can develop with plastic interiors. We also have fairly hard water so the vinegar (poured into the dishwasher, not the water tank) helps with that issue. Don’t use rinse aid in this dishwasher, unless you get a small rinse aid rack. With the small size, white vinegar is a better option since rinse aid is still a surfactant.

I love this machine!
I had serious second thoughts after ordering this. I feared i would feel the $$ were wasted. Well, after 5 weeks of having & using it, i'm here to tell you - I love this mini dishwasher!! It does a very good job of washing about a day worth of dishes for a single person, with just a couple of teaspoons of dishwasher detergent. The absolute best thing is how much less water it uses... just 5 liters for the entire wash & multiple rinses. That's less than the 2 or 3 gallons it takes to put soapy water in the sink, without even factoring in the gallons of rinse water. Also, since the unit heats the water, you will see a noticeable reduction in your water heater usage. I've seen a significant savings in both my gas & water bills. Even running it 2 or 3 times in a day would still result in savings you would see versus hand washing. Does it have limitations? Yes - you will still be handwashing most of your pots & pans, as they simply will not fit. Also, if you are using the drain hose to your sink but removing it from the sink between uses, it would be quite a mess if you accidentally forgot to suction-cup it back to the sink when using, as it will drain regardless of how you stash it in between uses. (I've put a large adhesive hook on the side of the unit to hold it across the door so i won't forget. There is a described option to add a drain pipe for the hose, but i won't be doing that) I tried the direct connection to the tap for the water, but only once. The hose is hard to stow between uses, as it's pretty long, very stiff, and full of water after use. If you can hook it to a dedicated tap, that would work ok. If not, the pour-in method work just fine, requiring about 3 of the 1.8-liter pitcher that comes with. I recommend hitting the start button after the second pitcher goes in -- it will ding 10 times to let you know it still needs more water, then ding again and start running as soon as it's full, saving you from possibly over-filling it. Worth noting - There are some models that are a tad larger, which you may want to consider if you aren't single. In summary, excluding large pots & pans, it washes my dishes well in just over an hour with a one-hour dry cycle available if you want. It saves on utilities, enough to notice in just one billing cycle, and i don't spend hours of my week standing at the sink with my hands in hot, soapy water! Very, very glad i bought this!

Worth it (depending on your lifestyle)
I absolutely hate washing dishes by hand, this little dishwasher has turned out to be a full-on quality of life upgrade for me. It was definitely a big splurge for myself - I'm not wealthy and I do not drop coin lightly. Glad I finally did though. I was previously very prone to avoid doing my dishes until I'd run out of clean ones entirely, but this has helped me immensely. I've never had any other dishwashers since moving out of my childhood home over a decade ago- so nothing to compare it to, but I've used it for a few months now and have no real complaints. It's obviously pretty small as far as dishwashers go, so if you've got extra wide plates or larger items you will probably still need to sort those out by hand. But for smaller plates, bowls, glasses, utensils, even small pots/pans - this thing is pretty great! I live alone and generally eat in more of a 'snacky' way rather than proper cooked meals and I give my dishes a little rinse in the sink after eating, so I mainly just use the 'quick wash' setting that only takes 29 mins to run through. I use less water than I would if I was doing them by hand. It's simple to set up and use, pretty quiet and gets the job done. Easy to move the machine around if you need to, and it's really nice to have the option to just pour water in the top opening rather than having to connect it to plumbing. My kitchen counter space is incredibly limited, so it needs to be kept elsewhere when not in use. The only remotely 'negative' thing I can say so far, is that there is little music notes that play when you turn the machine on/off, but they sound reversed? 'On' sounds like it's turning off and 'off' sounds like it's turning on haha, confusing to my brain but doesn't affect the wash. Overall I feel like it was a great purchase to suit my minimal needs & help mitigate some of my executive functioning issues. Hope it keeps working for a long time!
