It loads staples fine. I've had no problems except that it's a little noisy.

Q: Does this use regular staples?

it uses regular standard staples.

Q: Can you also use this stapler manually?

It is an electric stapler that works with batteries or plugged in an outlet. It is portable but not manual. I love the one I have.

Q: does it use a whole strip of staples or half?

There are 2 different versions of this stapler. Mine does half strips. I was really confused when I first got this as I believed mine to be faulty as the staple-holder-thingy never slid out all the way. Came back and read the description and it makes sense now.
