Before I "went organic" (as much as I can, anyway!) I used to use Potato Buds or other boxed instant "potato flakes" mashed potato mix (like Idahoan Real Mashed Potatoes ) NOT because I didn't know how to make mashed potatoes, because to the contrary, I ♡ cooking and baking (and even went to Paris for a 10-week baking & pastry course) but rather just for the "convenience factor". Because it was a lot quicker to whip up some boxed mashed potatoes, than to peel & cut up a ton of potatoes, wait for them to get boiled and then mash them up. However, after I "went organic", I started making mashed potatoes from scratch with organic, non-GMO potatoes and other organic ingredients the majority of the time when I'd make mashed potatoes. Occasionally, though, I'd buy a box or two of these Edward & Sons Home Style Organic Mashed Potatoes from a local brick & mortar supermarket (like Whole Foods) But recently my mother, who has been ill, wanted mashed potatoes that she would not have to wait ages to have (because it took forever to wash, peel & cut, then boil and mash potatoes) when she felt like having it. Unfortunately, when I looked for it at the local markets, I could no longer find it. I don't know if they stopped carrying it -- or if its just out of stock, but everytime I checked for it, it wasn't there. So either they did not have new stock when I was there, or they have stopped carrying it. Either way, since I couldn't find it (or any other organic mashed potatoes mix) in local stores, and I didn't want to buy conventional mashed potatoes mix, I looked online and found a pack of 6 boxes of organic mashed potatoes for about the same (or even cheaper!) price than it had been in the local stores. I have bought it at least a couple times now (because my mom has been going through a couple boxes (often even more!) every week -- and it has been GREAT! Not only is it DELICIOUS and organic, but its very fast and easy to make (I don't even bother with the instructions!). I just put some water for boiling in the Cuisinart Electric Kettle which depending on the amount of water put in, doesn't take more than a few minutes. Then I pour the boiling water into a serving bowl, stir in some organic (or Kerrygold) butter, salt and the Edward & Sons Homestyle Organic Mashed Potatoes and then add some organic milk, mix it together, and vóila, warm, yummy organic mashed potatoes in 5-10 minutes or less! ★☆★☆★ 5 STARS!!!!

Not sure why there are reviews bemoaning these organic instant mashed potatoes. In my palate's tasting, these are the best instant potatoes out there. Perfectly seasoned in an appropriately sized packaged portion. Is there onion in it? So says the ingredient list as organic onion power. But I sure can't taste it as others have stated. It is so quick and easy to prepare as well. What I do is this .... put a half cup of whole milk in a bowl first, then about 2 tablespoons, about a 1 inch square, of butter in the bowl with the milk. Then place the bowl on the coffee maker and run it on the 12 ounce hot water only setting, then finish it off with hot water only from the 6 ounce setting ~ this starts to melt the butter as well. Then pour in the potatoes while stirring. And then voila, the perfect bowl of mashed potatoes all at great temperature immediately eatable. And, I might throw in another pat of butter, or two, if I want a more rich tasting mashed potatoes. I eat the whole bowl of these mashed potatoes while watching TV, as someone would eat a bowl of ice cream. These are great on a cold night evening while watching TV when one gets a hankering for eating something. You really can't go wrong with this organic brand. And as an added plus? The butter in the mashed potatoes will satiate you as well so you won't become hungry later in the evening.

I'm sure this taste great...its just potatoes flakes but take a look at the ounces per box....it is very deseptive...you think your getting visually the same sizes boxes you see at grocery stores which makes you believe its worth the price because your buying in bulk but once you recieve this you'll see your paying alot for very little. I was shocked to see these 6 tiny boxes that I paid over $20 for. I know organic is more expensive but I feel the packaging is deceptive. Of course after I purchased this I now see the price has gone down to $15...I think it's worth that and will probably buy again but only when the price is down to that.

I’m kind of confused by some of the reviews mentioning texture, to me these are consistent with making fresh mashed potatoes, so perhaps those reviewers are more accustomed to the highly processed instant potatoes you can find at the store. I like that the ingredients are organic and you’re not being loaded with all kinds of fillers, all I need to add was a dash of salt. The taste is delicious, I like the thickness (and you can thin it out with adding more milk) and I also feel it’s a good value for the money.
