Q: I did not get instructgions on how to use this when ii bout it, please help.

Normally you use this balloon at the end of drift dive when you start your safety stop so the boat has a chance so see your location and move to you. First thing you do is remove the balloon (sausage or what ever you want to call it) from the pouch and attached to a line. You can use the line that comes with it --although a lot divers of use a small spool of line sometimes called a finger spool.It is a good idea to clip the line to your BC so it does not get away from you in a current. You pull open the Velcro bottom. (This particular type of balloon has a Velcro weighted bottom.) You use your primary or secondary regulator to fill the balloon and then reseal the Velcro bottom. (I presume you know how to press your regulator to release air through it.) You let go of the balloon and it will shoot to the surface. As you ascend roll in the line to keep down pressure on the bottom of the balloon, this will keep the balloon upright at the surface. If you do not fill the balloon all the way or do not keep pressure on the line when it gets to the surface the balloon will fall down and just lie at the surface. This may be enough for your boat to find you or not. So be sure it is full or air and keep a bit of down pressure on the line to make the balloon is upright at the surface. The weight at the bottom should hold the balloon opening under the surface and help the balloon stay upright. Of course you can also use this at the surface and fill the balloon there as well. Just remember the ocean is a theft and it will gladly wash away anything not attached to you. You should try this during a checkup dive or in a pool just to practice. Once you are picked up you can either hand up the filled balloon to the boat crew or open up the bottom again and roll the balloon up to collapse it before getting on the boat.

It is open ended on the bottom, so air escapes out the bottom as it ascends and the gas expands.

Q: How long is the line that comes with this?

. I don’t believe it came with one. It has a six inch strap, that I attached a stainless steel ring to. I either use a 100’ reel or a 20’ finger reel, depending on the type diving I am doing. It’s well constructed, I have put well over 100 dives on it and it looks brand new. Hope this helps..
