Everything Is F*cked: A Book About Hope : Manson, Mark: desertcart.co.uk: Stationery & Office Supplies Review: Better Then The First Book! - Mark has a way of putting things that is uniquely Mark, that’s not to say I agree with everything but the current world we live in with people getting upset over nothing, the ‘Karen’s’ screaming rages, Marks reason for why this is happening is totally spot on! I thought pretty much the same for a couple of years but Mark puts it far more eloquently. On AI, will not happen today but his vision of events may be closer to the truth than many realise in the long term. Review: Good Ideas - This book presents a compelling exploration of world religions, delving into their fundamental beliefs, practices, and historical contexts. It offers insightful perspectives on how these diverse faiths shape cultural identities and influence global interactions. Additionally, the text examines the growing intersection of religion and artificial intelligence, prompting thought-provoking discussions about spirituality and technology in the modern world.

Last chapter kinda ruins it
I really enjoyed it right up to the last chapter where he goes off on a tangent into a utopian vision of how AI is going to save us.. wait..what ? He seems to forget who is building the AI in the first place as well as some of his own points on the limits of rationality and reason.. I would have given a higher rating honestly if this chapter had been left out but it contradicted many of his own points and weakened the argument of the book in my opinion. Peak End Rule says the weak ending will affect the overall perception of the event.. and in this case it definitely did.

Extremely thought provoking and very funny book
Having read Marks previous book, I was looking forward to the follow up. I wasn’t disappointed. The author is able to put across challenging and thought provoking concepts about the human condition extremely well. His use of humour and real life examples to illustrate his thoughts really work well for me. Looking forward his next book

Not bad. Not bad at all.
Well.I liked this book. Lots. It's a rip roaring read. I woulda given it 5 stars if he didn't decide at one point to try to help me. Up till then I was all in. It was just a wonderful rant about the hopelessness of the human situation. About how you just got to grasp that hopelessness and live with it. But then darn if he didn't try to fix that. You know - like all the usual self-help books they just can't help but try to fix you. There is no fixing you. Once you truly get this - then you no longer need fixing. So. 4 stars not 5. But pretty darn good - yes pretty darn good.

Page 54 hit me, page 78 made me leave a review before I finish the book
One day, a nameless online entity recommended buying this book. Here’s the thing, I’m impulsive and enjoy leaning into this emotion just so I can say “Well, you did recommend X and I bought the X and it was ….(my opinion)” It’s been a long while since I read a book about the psyche of the human brain. Wait, I’ve never read a book that had a smidgen of psychology contained in the pages. I refuse to count my Sociology O level grade A. This is proper easy to understand, it’s funny, a third of the book consists of study citations, research papers, the editors own thoughts and a whale sized portion of humour. This book is so funny, it cleverly wraps intrinsic brain theories with a pithy commentary. The writing style creates eye and brain hunger for just one .. more .. chapter. My tip to you is have 2 bookmarks, one for the last page you read, and the other for the references and source material in the back of the book. Always re-read the last couple of pages to refresh your memory before you pick up reading the next new page. Buy two copies. Start one yourself and then give one to a friend so you can share the mirth and the uncovered, unlocked knowledge about your trains of thought with someone *who understands* what direction your brain is heading. Are you having an off day and need a genuine smile? Grieving the loss of a friendship? Leaving a beloved team, or retiring from a job after a long career spanning decades? Feeling lost? Missing a lost item? Suffered a significant personal loss? I’m on page 78 and I’ll update this review when I’m done. Because I never cheat and read the last page. I like surprises a lot. Absolutely amazed by this books content. It outlines the importance of the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, Rene Descartes, and Nietzsche among others. But it's not a book for the masses. It is for those who have at least already secured them self in the past in the financial domain. Because if you don't have money to take care of your daily life, it is but hopeless to talk about philosophy. However, how to live an ideal life through moral and personal ethics is excellently explained in the book, and the fact that it can and will lead to personal fulfillment and satisfaction at a very deep level is beyond doubt. As rightly pointed out in the book, if you want to compare Kant's thinking brain with ours, his thinking brain must have had biceps. Most of us (if not all) are guided by our feeling brain. And that's where the author has successfully driven his point. Most of our problems are emotional (feeling brain is in the driver's seat, while the thinking brain is in the passenger seat), and we take decisions in life based on the emotions that the situations in life generates. Kant was the exception. The author has succeeded in outlining his own personal philosophy of life, a large share of which are a mix of Kant's philosophy and those of others (Nietzsche etc). I enjoyed the book from the beginning till the end. The best part is that the author is not dictating what the reader should do. He has let it for the reader to decide. Mark has on the other hand described in detail the importance of values and how it maneuvers the dynamics of the society and people in the world in general. It is a book about psychology and a lot of research has gone into the writing of it. The last portion of the book is about artificial intelligence (AI) and the proclamation that it is going to be the final religion. This book is highly recommended to all avid readers with an exploring mind, who really wants to go deep down the rabbit hole to seek out the fundamentals that govern the dynamics of life we are living at present. Lot of humour fill the book, the writer never stops entertaining even when the issue is deeply philosophical. Lot of love and respect to M. Manson for taking this bold step with writing EiF.

Once again Mark manages to take a series of complex ideas about religion, meaning, and philosophy and meld them into a highly readable format which does not patronise the reader. He has a knack for making complex philosophical points understandable, without dumbing them down such that meaning is lost. He then gets you to reflect, and if you’re paying attention you will be on a wonderful voyage of self discovery. This is not a book which thinks for you. If you read it cover to cover assuming it is all someone else’s problem, and you gain no person insight you’ve just wasted your time. If you pause every few pages, reflect on the statements made, and then use this to go on an inner journey to examine and revise your own thinking… Well you’re going to love this book. Highly recommended as a wonderfully thought-provoking piece of writing well grounded in the considerable philosophical efforts of the past five thousand years.
