Lightweight

Excellent lens for the price. Came with version 3 firmware and the AF is an 8.5/10 for photo and video. I don't think I have a need to update for my A7C. The image quality and sharpness 8.5/10. Price and portability 9.5/10. Bokeh and minimum close focus distance = 8.3/10. Small, lightweight and perfect for every day, travel, night/ low light photography, landscapes, weddings, street or anything. I've never really used 35mm primes, but I wanted a small lightweight lens I could leave on most of the time while traveling that was also good for video. If you're looking for a 10/10 lens than you're not looking at the Samyang line anyways. I have never desired huge, expensive G master lenses on my small A7C. Not even when I did "Pro" work. Highly recommended. Compared to my Sony 28mm F2.0 lens I would say that this lens is better in almost everything. The Sonys AF may be a tad better but not much. This is lens is much sharper with better background separation. I may sell the Sony 28mm now.

I recently sold my Samyang 50mm 1.4 FE and made a switch to 35mm 1.8 FE for my Sony A7iii. Main driver was the weight. I wanted something light for my Sony A7iii for gimbal use and this lens did not disappoint me. It's very light and small comparatively and focusing is very quiet for video use. It also takes sharp photos. I'll attach couple of photos here.

The autofocus speed is really fast. It is comparable to my Tamron 70-180mm Di III VXD lens. It has great autofocus even under low light. The image is pretty good but isnt great (due to some mild CA) like the Tamron 28-75 Di III RXD, 70-180mm Di III VXD or the 35mm Di III OSD M1:2. The images taken by this lens are dimmer than my Tamron lenses with the same exposure settings. Another point to note is that although the clicking sound that it makes during autofocusing is pretty soft, it is still way louder than the Tamron 70-180mm VXD or the 28-75mm RXD as these 2 Tamron lenses are almost silent during autofocusing. This lens cannot do macro shots as the minimum focusing distance is 29cm. Giving it a 4 star as it offers plenty of value for the price I paid for it.

Das Samyang 35mm 1.8 hat mich voll überzeugt und ist eine echte Empfehlung für alle, die ein kompaktes und leistungsfähiges Objektiv suchen. Die Schärfe ist beeindruckend – selbst bei Offenblende liefert es gestochen scharfe Bilder mit einer tollen Detailwiedergabe. Der Autofokus arbeitet zuverlässig und schnell, sowohl bei Fotos als auch bei Videos. Für einen so kleinen und leichten Formfaktor ist das ein riesiger Pluspunkt! Die Verarbeitungsqualität ist solide, auch wenn sich das Gehäuse aufgrund der Kunststoffbauweise nicht ganz so hochwertig anfühlt wie bei manchen teureren Alternativen. Aber das tut der Leistung keinen Abbruch – das Objektiv hält, was es verspricht, und ist dabei angenehm leicht und kompakt.

I like the simple and light weight design of the lens. Some might not like that it is plastic but I don’t mind at all. The plastic build is still very nice. I use this lens for wide open at 1.8 in both video and photos and I love the picture quality. I was thinking to get the Sony 35mm 1.8 but I’m very pleased I decided to get this less expensive option.
