Vaxis Atom 500 Wireless HDMI SDI Version Video Transmission System 1080P 300 Feet 5G Image Transmitter and Receiver for DSLR Camera Gimbal Stabilizers

I am really impressed with the Vaxis Atom. Normally I work with high end video systems like the bolt 3000 at 10 times the price. Uh, the bolt is better if cost is no object. But I bought the Vaxis Atom and totally recommend it. The SDI transmission system has a great picture, although there is a little latency. The range is not great, maybe 70 feet? But that's about what I expected, and I usually use it very close range. The killer feature is the iphone and ipad transmission for clients. The ipad picture is medium resolution, I wish it was higher, but it's enough to see what I'm filming, see the framing, and get client feedback and sign off. And having video on ipads is so much simpler/easier than running video to actual monitors, bolt recievers, and all the batteries needed to run them. For small jobs with my Komodo which are run and gun I think this is a great system for the price, and if you accept the performance it offers. So, with those caveats, I give it 5 stars.

It worked for two months only then the RX stopped working. The worst part is that I had to ship it back to China for a warranty and pay $221 through UPS. This policy is not indicated on the Amazon website. Amazon only offers a free return to the seller if returned within a month. In my case it was over a month so Amazon would not accept it anymore so my only option was to contact the manufacturer and was informed that I had to pay for shipping it back to China. For VAXIS there is no option for shipping it back within the U.S. for servicing or warranty beyond a month, which sucks! Because of this I will not be buying VAXIS products anymore and when considering expanding our equipment, I will look into other brands, and ask about warranty topics, especially regarding shipping back product for warranty.

Very nice unit. I did a lot of research and I'm glad I went with this over the competitor. Well-built, light and easy to use. It did not come with cold shoe or case but case is available for purchase. I have not tested extensively but it was easy to hook up to camera and get a good signal. Now I plan to buy a couple of the HDMI units.

I can't upgrade the firmware on the unit, they came with Version s1.1.4, followed the manual and the youtube video but still the unit can't update?the Unit works but the firmware i received is very old and different than anything shown in pictures or manual and I can't seem to update it by following any of the instructions provided by the company website of official youtube channel, and when connected to iphone software it says that the device is not upgradable so whats up with that as well ?

I am a 1st AC and I wanted to use this as the video transmitter for pulling focus. The image was freezing a lot of times and the latency is noticeable, even the camera was in the kitchen and I was pulling focus in the living room.

Not recommended for capturing drums when live-streaming but every where else is fine. No drop out issues. Used in a room that’s 100X150ft
