Smooth Viking Forming Cream - High Hold Styling Cream for Matte Finish, Men's Hair Products, Hair Paste for Short, Curly and Long Hair, Made in USA, 2oz

First time trying Smooth Viking Forming cream. Was looking for hi hold, but not sticky. Cracked it open and scent is alright. Not offensive or strong to me as I applied in dry hair. The pictures I posted are about 4 hours after application. After I took the dogs on a 45 min walk in warm breezy condition here in Southern AZ. No scalp itch, and hair stayed in place! Some products make my scalp itch but not Smooth Viking. Shine is medium I think. The lighting in the room effected the look of gloss or shine. It's not bad at all. So far very satisfied with this product especially considering price! Extremely good value! As a 48 yr old man, I'm fortunate to have nice hair. So I'm constantly looking for decently priced hair products that work! Smooth Viking is at the top of my list! Highly recommended!

Hey Guys...this is hair stuff for guys. It's not a topic we often like to discuss. I can say however, behind the protection an anonymity that this stuff works really well. Just a little bit goes a long way for a guy like me who has short hair and doesn't want to mess around much with sprays and sticky gels works really well. Basically...I want to spend about 30 seconds getting ready for work after I'm done getting my kids ready and this stuff does the trick. I'd say it works as well as the one other brand I've tried and for about $10 less per container. Hair stays in place all day long and allows me to make minor corrections throughout the day if needed (sometimes I just need a splash of water on my hands). One of my major concerns in purchasing this product (other than having to purchase a hair thing) was there were several comments about the smell. I think this is my third go around with this product and the first two I had did not have much of a scent to them. The newest container however has a much stronger smell. It's definitely more of an "old-school" musk type smell rather than the Axe Sprays (which generally smell like hot garbage and lilacs) but I wouldn't say it is bad. It also doesn't last very long either so I wouldn't say it is a big deal. I'd question the factory workers or machine that puts the manly musk in each container for consistency but again, not a reason not to buy it. Honestly, I'm not sure a 4 rating or a 5 ratings really means much except that I'm not being paid to provide feedback on this product. Maybe some more consistency with the manly smell of this very unmanly item would get it to the 5 atmosphere. Overall, good product at a great price. At the end of the day, it's hair stuff for dudes so let's not be too serious about it.

I was looking for a styling product that would provide body and hold to my hair without a shiny look. This Viking product is perfect. This my second can so I think I’ve found a hair product that checks all my boxes. I have wavy/curly hair that I like to stay in place, but also look natural. Viking provides me with that natural look. I use a dab about the size of a nickel and apply with both hands throughout my hair. I also like the fair price for this product as well.

Big fan of this product. I have been using crew fiber for a while and decided to get a high hold product to try out and it doesn’t disappoint. If you have longer thicker hair this isn’t for you. If you’re looking for an all day style product or even one you can put in on Friday and wash out on Sunday this is it. It will definitely look and feel like you have something in your hair but that’s a good thing because by the time it starts to look like it’s gone or not holding run some water over you’re hands rub your hair and BAM you’re back to that original look you had when you first put it on.

I'd like to review this higher because I think it might suit other individuals better, this perhaps just wasn't my style. I'm not a hair expert so it's hard for me to say. I'm used to using American Crew Forming Cream (the green one for the color coding folks), it's a thick, waxy, cream that almost melts between your fingers as you rub it between your hands, has a yellowish/whitish beeswax type of look to it. It leaves a pretty heavy (shiny/greasy as advertised) feeling in my hair and is susceptible to humidity. I LOVE the more matte finish this Smooth Viking Forming Cream leaves in my hair, and it seems to hold up better to humidity. The fragrance is super mild but pleasant. This is a totally different consistency, upon opening it it almost reminds me of marshmallow fluff. After dipping your finger in, it's roughly the consistency of soft margarine. Also compared to American Crew's forming cream, this "reactivates" better with water. The more I have to add any water to my hair/product throughout the day with American Crew, the heavier and greasier my hair looks and feels. This seems to help my hair retain volume better throughout the day while allowing me to use some water to touch up as hairs come out of place. The Bad - A super tiny amount (think 2 or 3 peas worth) of American Crew Forming Cream is all that it takes me for all of my hair. I have thick hair, approximately 7 inches long on top, kept high and tight on the sides but not buzzed. I need a comparatively large amount (twice as much or more) of this Smooth Viking cream, especially anywhere in the back or sides where it feels like I have to add extra to tame short flyaway hairs. If you don't care about how much you have to use, this product is awesome. May also be more well suited to shorter hair. Though I like the product, the amount I have to use seems like a lot and this is already (at the time of writing) $6.16 per ounce compared to $3.69 for American Crew. Because this is about 66% more expensive and I use twice as much or more, I won't stick with it. I will more than likely try another Smooth Viking product at some point, the product seems good and despite both being dubbed as "Forming Cream" Smooth Viking may have another product in their line up that is more of a one to one match with American Crew's. If I could achieve these results with another one of their products without having to use so much, I would definitely switch to Smooth Viking over American Crew despite the higher price.

This stuff is fantastic. I have been a user of the CREW brand for a couple of years now but always disliked how some days I would notice flakes in my hair...flakes that were not there on days where I did not use the crew product. I decided to try something new and based on reviews I went with smooth Viking. I was a tad skeptical since I read a review or two about it smelling bad. Viking arrived and first thing I did was smell the product...its not bad at all! So on to the test. I washed my hair, towel dried it till just slightly damp and then applied a small amount of the viking product to the palm of my hand and rubbed it between both palms. Then rubbed it into my hair and shaped my hair. Product went in real smooth...no clumps. Product held my hair just where I wanted it yet my hair still felt as if very little to nothing was in my hair....just what I wanted! A soft non crunchy non hard feel. This stuff appears to be just what I wanted. Very low shine, medium hold without the stiff feeling....and NO white flakes from the dried product.

Certainly a good hair product. I was trying different in store pomades but wanted something that would leave me with a more natural finish and look, and this does just that. Im used to really thick feeling hair products so I wasnt sure how good this would hold when its more of a lotion consistency, but it definitely held good. This probably isnt a problem most people would have but my hair tends to love to get a million stray strands, pomade was able to control but not this. Have to put a little pomade finish to get those, personally. The smell is nice, much like a sunscreen lotion sort of smell. My only gripe would probably be how quick it looks like its going for how much it costs. The membrane sorta texture you have to break before it becomes more akin to a cream also contributes to this. In terms of how it functions as a hair product though, id say itd work just great for most people.

I have a hard tine finding any hair products since I have thick wavy hair. Since my hair absorbs a lot of moisture too, most products leave my hair looking wet and it hate having to chose between that and puffy hair. This product is easy to apply and hold very well. I am able to style my hair exactly how I want without it looking too shiny! It held for an entire day, even some gym time without getting undone too much and washes out easy! I would very much reccomend to anyone who needs an easy styling product and has similar issues to me!
