I chose Dewalt because I have their 20v system already. I debated about the 60v ones but choose to stay 20v since I'm the average homeowner weekend / occasionally need to cut something guy. I chose the 7 1/4 inch for cutting depth and also because those are the blades I already had for my previous skillsaw. I chose the bare tool because I have batteries and chargers from other Dewalt 20v tools I've bought in the past. Otherwise I would have considered the kit which comes with charger and battery. The 20V system is powerful enough for me (typical weekend home handyman with a day job). This unit is light weight - OK TBH my last one was a heavy heavy corded piece from Sears I think from 70s (a hand me down) which still works and which I keep for 'backup' so take it with a grain of salt. The 20V is also much quieter (still loud) than my older saw (airplane taking off loud). I also noticed the light bulb dimming when I started my old one :o A 5AH Dewalt battery fully charged is good for about 4hrs of on and off cutting in my hands (2x4, 2x6, etc.) I'd say I would be cutting a piece every 5-10mins. Batt was down at 1 bar but did not affect the performance of the unit - still spinning and cutting well. I am by no way a professional nor a fast cutter like what you see on Youtube / TV etc. I measure twice and cut once but I cut slowly to follow my line. I recommend the tool and Dewalt has more than sufficient performance and higher quality. I stick to the 20v and brushless (XR or Max series) lines; I understand 60v is the PRO line. Hope this all helps someone out there with this purchasing decision.

I've had this DeWalt cordless circular saw for about a week and have used it to cut various types of 2-by material and I am impressed with its torque and ability to cut through everything that my corded circular saw could cut. Quite heavy-duty yet handles beautifully and is straightforward, even intuitive, to use. I use it with a DeWalt 5 Ah battery and that combination seems quite harmonious. I've used it for both vertical and 45 degree cuts and for both it works flawlessly. An impressive and convenient tool that frees the user from the power cord while providing all of the functionality of a corded saw. Highly recommended.

I’ve been using this DeWalt 20V MAX Cordless Circular Saw for a 6 weeks, and it’s been a game changer. The brushless motor is seriously powerful—it can handle pretty much anything I throw at it, from plywood to 2x4s, without struggling. The 7-1/4 inch blade gives me a nice deep cut, and adjusting the bevel is super easy, especially with the detents at 22.5° and 45°—perfect for those angled cuts I need to make pretty often. One of my favorite things is how comfortable it feels. The grip is just right, so even after using it for a while, my wrist doesn’t feel strained. The LED light is a nice touch too, especially when I’m working in low light—it really helps me keep my cut line straight. The only downside? The ruler markings should be etched in color. Tough to see.
