Cartech Oldsmobile V-8 Engines - Revised Edition: How to Build Max Performance

I am building an old 350 Oldsmobile street engine, I found this book very informative . It is really set up more for the very High Performance guys but still very helpful for a street build.

This book is worth the price to any Olds enthusiast. If you read any online forums, you know Bill is a little impressed with himself, and it shows somewhat in this book. I kind of find that endearing in a way. Lots of helpful information here, but there are a number of comments that really could use more explanation. It is evident this was his first attempt at writing a book, and from that standpoint it's pretty good. Would like to see a second revision with some clarifications and some better editing from the publisher to draw a clearer distinction between basic engineering facts and Bill's opinions and anecdotal evidence. This book would benefit greatly if Bill teamed up with an experienced technical writer to help better organize and clarify the information.

Bill is well known in the Oldsmobile and the NMCA Drag Racing Circles. If you know him or have read his postings on his web forum, this book is exactly what you would expect. Informative, professionally done and no punches pulled. Bill is very open about what has and hasn't worked for him. While it's hard for any book of this type to cover everything in detail, I can't imagine anybody who is building an Olds motor or having one built for them that wouldn't find this book well worth the investment. I highly recommend it.

Even if you are an experienced engine builder, there is information in this book you can use to your advantage. If you are building an Olds motor for the first time, you NEED this book. Even if you are having someone else build it for you, buy this book and lend it to them. Bill is the best there is in the Olds world, and will go the extra mile to help you achieve your goals.
