Retro-ish kicks
My favorite sneakers these days I think. I like the monotone retro-ish look. I don't skate, but these still get beat up fairly quickly biking (I apparently abuse shoes as well). The biggest downside of these shoes is that the more disgustingly beat up they look on the outside, the more comfortable they become -- so if you see folks wearing these shoes and they look like they are about to fall off their feet, you'll now know why. ;-) Also, they aren't Converse, which are sadly (and have been for several years now) owned by Nike.
