Does this kit come with a soldering iron? I don't get that impression but some of the reviews make me think otherwise...

I do not believe that this particular version of the kit includes the soldering iron. This appears to be the 'refil' kit. Is this a good item for an 11 year old with adult supervision?

Here is a "cheap" answer. Is the 11 year old responsible with a soldering iron? Will he/she turn it off and unplug it when getting a drink or going to the bathroom. House's catch fire from soldering irons left unwatched. Other than that it's a good learning kit, I haven't soldered in 40 years and I'm just getting back up to speed. Only YOU can judge if your child is ready and responsible. Sorry for the "cheap" answer, but I just don't know your son/daughter .... it not the kit or the child or even the soldering iron it the combination of all.

Could i integrate a pir infrared motion sensor? So the alarm is triggered by motion?

How many soldering points does this kit have? Would you recommend it for a beginner?

There are near 50 different soldering points. This is the perfect kit for a beginner. Lots of diversity; resistors, chips and transistors. My only beef would be that it's single-sided
