I bought the Do it Yourself Will kit for my children. They don't possess much right now, but you don't know what's around the corner. They will be inheriting from my estate someday and this what my lawyer suggested. Not that they go to a lawyer, but that they should have a will in place. If and when they have something to be concerned about then they can go legal. These were simple to fill out and sufficient for now.

If you are looking for an easy to use, not complicated cheap/free template for a non complicated will, this will do the job. If you have an estate that has property, assets and multiple beneficiaries, hire an attorney. The CD does not autorun so you need to be somewhat computer literate to find the files you need to open. Open Windows Explorer, display "all files" and click on the Word doc that applies to you (Will Children or Will NoChildren) Using good old fashioned common sense, revise the document as you see fit and print. As easy as that. Again, this will NOT meet your needs if you have a complicated situation with multiple assets and multiple beneficiaries.

Although the instructions tell you that the CD will have a setup file on it, the CD does not have a setup file on it and it will neither autorun nor start anything called "Nolo eForm Setup", so don't be fooled. You must double-click the particular version of the will's .rtf file that you wish to use. If you have some version of MS Office installed, it will start that, otherwise it may ask what you want to use. WordPad on any Windows version will work fine. This is a very simple will. Check your state's requirements for a "self-proving" will for guidance on whether you should have the will notarized and make sure you do not sign it before you do! Also, registering the product does not appear to provide a downloadable version or updates. This will is 10 years old (produced in 2010) and may be outdated.

I kept telling a friend that I was not an attorney. She told me what she wanted. We reviewed it and I made changes. She seemed satisfied and we met at a local library with two witnesses and a notary.

Difficult to use. Chapters 1-3 didn't download. I can't find the forms on my computer after the installation and in the end I have to write on the form by hand because of this. I have 2 master degrees and this is the best I could figure out about how to use this product. Take that for what you will.
