The material is very effective on our 12’ x 8’ RV awning. It was difficult at first to insert the spline, but far easier than the rigid plastic spline that had come with our replacement canopy fabric. Once I got the hang of it, it was fairly easy with a standard screen splining tool. It is now months later, and it is holding perfectly.

Just be sure you’re buying the proper size. I think I probably bought one size too large, but it was close. If you’re thinking “Oh, it’s rubber and should compress pretty easily even if I bought too large a size” - not really. It’s a pretty stiff, firm rubber, so it’s not going to compress easily into a smaller slot. I got it to work, but it took a lot of pressure and time. I’m sure if you buy the exact right size or fault on the side of a bit smaller, you’d be fine. But don’t go larger thinking it’ll result in a tighter fit.
