Positive experience
I bought this to replumb my house as two of my copper pipes filled with clay silt and plugged up. I was buying some parts in town but no one carries much these days and they charge a fortune for what they do carry.I am literally replumbing my entire house with this kit plus a few other fixtures that I bought. I am impressed thus far and about halfway done with the job and I started yesterday evening after getting back from cutting firewood. I am a fan of the red tube/blue tube, that is nice, no questioning whether it is a hot water line or a cold. It is a bit challenging to unroll and flatten the tube out. I imagine you could use a heat gun and carefully heat it a bit to relax the curve, I have my heat gun out but I haven't actually tried it yet.The crimping tool is nice though it takes a little bit of force to operate it, and I am a fairly big and stout guy. When you get into a tight place trying to use the tool it takes a bit of coordination and strength to use it. You also want to take a little scrap of pipe and one of the straight connectors and do a couple practice connections at the kitchen table before you start. My tool broke the first two connectors I used and I had to adjust it a little bit. The adjuster is in on the front side of the tool and there is a set screw on the back side to hold it in place, Use a phillips screw driver and loosen the screw just a bit and turn the set knob slightly clockwise to loosen the setting and counter clockwise to tighten it. It needs to be able click "six" times and tighten the band without breaking the band. Do not continue to press the handle together after "six" clicks as you will over tighten and break the band. When you break the band tightening it also squeezes the tube down so tight on the fitting that you often have to cut the tube to get it off the fitting so leaving an extra inch or two on your tubing is not a bad idea. I have muscular dystrophy and my muscles were in revolt last night after doing the firewood cutting and a few times I went over the six clicks and broke the band. In tight places it can be difficult to not to over tighten, don't get frustrated just find a better position or do it a time or two until you get it. It can also be a little bit tough to keep the band where you want it on the tube and connector, it might be helpful to have second person in some places.I am amazed at how easy this is overall and the price of the fittings, I can't hardly find any fittings in town anymore and the prices they want are outrageous. I spent $75 just buying a few parts working on the original plumbing. This kit and all the parts I needed to "completely" replace my entire plumbing system, two bathrooms, the kitchen and the laundry is all told costing me $275. Literally replumbing my entire house replacing "everything" for under $300... That is crazy... Not to mention that I am able to do it in about 16 hours time by myself. Some pretty amazing stuff. In ordering this the wife and I were unable to find out how many metal tightening clips are in the kit, it appears to be 200 to 300 or so. We went ahead and ordered another 50 as we didn't know for sure how many would be in this kit. So if you are wondering as we did I can safely say the kit has a good 200 clips probably more.
