Replacement Water Filter Cartridges for Cat Mate & Dog Mate Fountains, Pack of 10

Believe me when I say that "longevity" is not an applicable evaluation point for a cat fountain filter. I change the water in my cat fountain every other day, because they can drop hairs or impurities into the water easily and I like it to be clean for them, and I wash the fountain down as well. Some people change their fountain filter once a month, but I would rather do it twice a month, since it inhibits the growth of that clear algae which forms on the parts of the fountain bowl and the "waterfall" chute that are covered in still water. The fountain itself-- with moving water-- is the reason my kitties are so happy to lap up copious amounts of water and thus decrease the odds of renal failure or disease. But the purity of the water is also important, which is why these filters are so useful. They do their job so I know their water is safe, although part of my peace of mind regarding that, is also due to the fact I use spring water in their fountain. We don't have the incredibly pure well water coming from the faucets in our current home that we had a few years ago, and the city water is chlorinated, which I'm leery about drinking and so I don't like them having to either. The charcoal content is adequate for inhibiting the growth of fountain slime for longer, but it won't leave behind much charcoal residue either. The reasonable cost of these make it painless to change the filter every other week, or even more often. (My son used to insist that the Cat Mate brand of filter uses more charcoal and so they last longer, but in spite of the higher cost, they ALL get so funky looking--who wants to keep the same one of those things in your cat's drinking fountain for a month--ugh!!) And BTW, he was never good about changing his cat's fountain either, so I thought his point about buying the expensive brand was moot. The Cat Mate fountains themselves are another story however, they clean up so quickly and easily and they are *not* expensive, so I think they are the best. But for your Cat Mate fountain, these 10 to a package filters are great!

We’ve been using these filters for years. Never had a bad one in the box that leaked carbon or wasn’t sealed properly. They work and are cheap. Change them super regularly and never had any issues with multiple cats using the fountain.

I bought these as replacement cartridges for my Cat Mate and they fit perfectly. I will admit, I thought I didn’t need to replace to the filters in my Cat Mate, but when the water stopped flowing I realized I was so wrong. So I found these and decided to give them a try. There's really only one way for the cartridges to fit in my Cat Mate fountain, so using these is a breeze. Each filter is individually wrapped and lasts me about 4 to 5 weeks and my cats love clean, fresh running water. These filters are very effective in trapping the ick that that tends to clog the motor of the Cat Mate. I’ve had my Cat Mat for about a year now and I’m happy with it and these replacement cartridges. This is a great value and I would definitely buy these again without hesitation. These are a great value and they work great!

I had a high maintenance fountain before with a very loose filled style filter that left a charcoal residue all through the water flow of the fountain. I found my current fountain, that uses this filter only, and both are so much better! My elder pet is now more spunky! And, no more charcoal residue in the fountain - ever! The water and drinking areas stay much cleaner for several days longer than my old system did. Just this month, I noticed that the water in the fountain felt a little "slimy," so I knew it was cleaning time. Unfortunately I didn't have enough purified water to do a full cleaning and water change. I felt it best to at least replace the old filter with a new one, and do a full cleaning & change out the old water as soon as I could.(Due to this new fountain's better design, I was also able to clean the upper portion and success! The fresh filter cleaned up the water to a healthier quality for my pet. When I was able to put in fresh purified water and clean the fountain thoroughly, I simply rinsed the new filter well after only a 24 hour use and the water quality remains high! Great filters!!! I am thinking it will easily last a full month. Of course I recommend this filter if it fits the water fountain's design, and I have to say if you are not happy with your current fountain you might consider getting the easy care, maintenance and use fountain this filter fits! I sure wish I had replaced my old fountain and filter system much sooner than I did. This one is soooo much better! God Bless us, everyone!

I have been using these filter for about 3 years now and am still very well satisfied with their performance. They are just a s good as the name brand filters and much less expensive. When I first got them they had instructions to run under water for a minute or so, though I did not get the instructions in the last package. This makes a big difference in the quality of the water as the charcoal in the filter can harbor charcoal dust. Running the filter under water briefly before installing will rinse the dust off and the water will be cleaner than if you didn't.
