does a waterproof vinyl pillow encasement effect the pillow?

Does it get softer once broken in?

Since pillows are compressed for shipping, they may break in over the first few 2-3 nights of use. Unlike mattresses which can break in over the first 2-3 weeks of use, new pillows will reach their true firmness almost immediately.
