You can but carefully. It is all cotton so I would use 1/2 cup bleach in the washer. I wouldn’t spot bleach for a stain.

A matelasse is not a quilt. matelasses are woven cotton bedspreads. i’m looking for a white matelasse. is this a matelasse? i’m confused by the respon

Well, this is definitely woven cotton, an ivory color - not white -- but it has definitely been quilted all over. It is GORGEOUS though -- I am in love with mine. It is so elegant and inviting -- and so classy looking.
