worth it for the price
1st the cons.... If you hold it up to the light in certain ways, you can see some slight discrepancies in the finish. But you do have to look for them. For the most part, you will not notice them, so not really a problem. I am being picky. 2nd, the tuners are not as silky smooth as I might like, but well good enough to do the job. Again, being picky. They are perfectly serviceable, and for the price, just fine. 3rd. I'd like the lower bridge to be a little wider, opening the strings a bit. But that would be my preference. Again, picky. It is good enough the way it is. 4th, and the worst thing, is that the nut at the top is a bit high, making the string action too high and then a bit stiff and hard to play. A trip to Harbor Freight for some really fine files and a few minutes filing down the slots fixed that problem. That is called setting up the instrument, and that is not unusual even on an expensive instrument. Is it playable out of the box? Yes it is. I just wanted a bit lower action and the repair was simple enough. Now for the pros: It does look good. Sounds good. the frets seem to be accurately spaced. Some complained that the ends of some of the frets were ragged, but on this instrument, they were nicely tapered, so no complaints there. The fretboard seems to be very flat. No buzzing strings, so that is good. Some complained that there were position marks only on the face of the fretboard, but this one has them on the face as well as the side. Sometimes I feel that some reviews I read are for a different instrument..... Another comment I read was that there was no way to attach a strap on some instruments. But this one came with strap mounts, and even a nicely colored strap. Cool! It comes with an electronic tuner, (which worked much better once I installed the supplied battery.....!) and some spare strings as well as a polishing cloth. And of course, a perfectly serviceable carrying case that has a side handle as well as back straps and a pouch for those strings, a capo if you want one, and spare picks (which it came with). So the bottom line is, that this is a nice inexpensive 26" Ukulele that sounds good enough, plays easily, looks good, and comes with everything you need to keep it in tune and to play it. No directions, though. You need to get some chord charts and tuning charts if you are new to the instrument. Would I buy another one, or recommend it to a friend? Absolutely yes. Just a note, keep the tuner in the case with the ukulele. It will not fit in the accessory pouch.

Look is super high end. Sound is exceptional
The look of it is simply super high end, tough it is not solid wood it looks just as if it was all mahogany. Beautifully built. SOUND: Very clear and nice resonance from the woods which plays very well with an acoustic guitar in terms of volume. It is little, but puts out a nice warm yet Ukulele like crisp highs STRINGS: I have kept the ones that are on and they do match the additional ones that they sent out (which is really cool), again not a Ukulele pro, however the strings are holding up very well and after the first week of playing and stay in tune quite well BODY: For this price, SUPERB! It is solid built and I can tell it will also take on some beating for a while. The neck is beautiful with a satin finish which makes nice to slide back and forth as you play TUNERS: These in combination with the strings that it comes with have worked super well to keep the instrument in tune for days at a time only minor adjustments every other day, and good to go. PLAYABILITY: Right out of the box this Ukulele feels very smooth around the fretboard, the frets are well polished and do not catch your fingers, the back of the neck allows for easy position change. BAG: Sturdy, extra pocket with zippers for any accessories you might want to carry (tuners, strings, pics, etc.), and it has two shoulder straps sot that you can wear it like a backpack. Nice! EXTRAS: in most cases the “bundles” are a combination of a few cheap items along with the main Item just to catch attention. Not the case here, the tuner (of the same brand as the guitar) works super well, and the plus is that it can be used for any string/vibration instrument. I haven’t used the extra set of strings, but if they are the same as the ones that came installed, I am in good shape. The strap as a really nice pattern and works very well, it can even be adjusted to fit a smaller child. Also comes with a nice padded case. High quality case ..

Wonderful instrument!
This is my first ukulele, but I play a variety of other instruments. I hadn't been practicing my others and wanted a fresh new challenge so I bought this uke with a 50 credit someone gave me for christmas. IT IS AMAZING. It has a bright punchy sound, as spruce top instruments do, sounds wonderful, and stays in tune nicely once you get the strings properly stretched. In the beginning, the instrument is likely to slip out of tune. THIS IS NORMAL. It took about a week of playing and tuning every day before the strings stayed in tune and would be less than 4 cents from perfect pitch (1 cent is 1/100th of a semitone and the point where i can start to notice a note is out of tune.) I have had this uke for 6 months now and I still love it!!!! I am a little rough with my instruments. I like to wear my uke on my back, via the included strap, and walk around the house with it when I'm not playing (which i usually am). as a result i have bonked it into the wall or door frames more than a few times. Rarely does this bad boy slip out of tune even with a solid thump. I'm very impressed with the quality I received for the price. The case is wonderful. I actually found my son standing on the case and uke one time when we were moving. But it remained perfectly in tact! so the case WORKS lol

Great start for a beginner!
I have had this now for four months, and must I have really enjoyed it so far! I purchased this instrument as a complete novice with no prior experience playing music in the first place. It arrived in a timely manner and in good sturdy packaging. I was skeptical about having an instrument shipped through the mail, but all was in order and good condition upon opening it. Out of the box I was able to use the provided tuner to get set up and started strumming within 5-10 minutes. Please take note that new strings on a ukulele take quite some time to settle/break in so expect to do a lot of tuning especially when returning after not playing for a day or two. Playing this ukulele has been enjoyable, I have appreciated the low-ish action and nice fretboard and after a few YouTube videos and some late night hours practicing I can keep up with several of my favorite acoustic songs strumming along. I did notice that when strumming with a good amount of force there would be a little bit of buzzing on the C and A string. Upon further inspection I did notice that the locking nuts that hold the tuners in the headstock had come loose a bit, with a quick tighten I was back in business no buzzing at all. Regarding the included accessories and goodies I would recommend getting a different strap upon ordering. It is very cheaply made and meant to be just something to get you going. The strings that come on it are alright, but I did swap them out for some Aquila Nylgut strings on a recommendation from a local shop owner. WHAT A DIFFERENCE I would order a set ($7-$10) when ordering your own and swap them immediately. The bag that comes with it is your standard fare and nothing to write home about. All in all I am 100% satisfied with my order and would purchase from this manufacture again without any worry. I am currently in the market for a tenor ukulele and have been very shocked to see how many "brand name" instruments at higher price points have such lesser make and finish quality than this little uke (Looking at you Kala). At this price point you can't go wrong for a beginner instrument.

This is nice - detailed measurements provided
1st - the measurements of a concert ukulele. 1st string 0.024 inch (bottom string) 2nd string 0.029 inch 3rd string 0.036 inch 4th string 0.025 inch (top string) Width at nut 35 mm Width at 12th fret 44 mm String Spread at nut 29 mm (measuring from the outside of the strings) String Spread at Bridge 42 mm (measuring from the outside of the strings) Amount of material you can remove from Bridge 2.22 mm. That is how far it sticks out. That is how far you can lower it. Fret height 0.035 inch or 0.9 mm The ukulele brings a smile to my face. It is very well set up to someone coming from a steel-string guitar background. The effort to fret is minimal - buttery smooth. I think some of the difference in reviews is from maybe people who are used to a nylon/classical guitar or ukulele? From someone with a steel-string guitar background, this instrument is fine. My kid, who has never played guitar or a ukulele played with it all night and fretting fine. There isn't much tension with this type of string and instrument. Also, this is a relatively inexpensive ukulele - so you cannot expect the same quality as a high-end guitar. As to high-end guitars, you have to buy a few from famous manufacturers to see how bad they can be. Some companies went belly up because of low quality. I don't like to name names. Well glued on bridge, well made nut, about the price of 10 sets of strings. Well worth it. As to sound, I am not experienced with ukulele sound but it sounds well enough. Also, I plan to travel with it, leave it in the car in the case during lunch, have it next to me when I am working late at home, go hiking with it, etc. So it serves a purpose well. I plan to do a setup soon to make it even better.

This is a laminate top uke. ??
It's a rare occurrence that anything deserves a perfect 5 🌟 review. I am a tough customer. Things have to be hitting all boxes hard for me to get this pumped! In my somewhat educated opinion the Hricane UK-21 ticks every box for build, product quality, sound and appearance! The gig bag is outstanding quality to start with! Thick dense padding for protection, triple stitching, metal zippers all on water resistant nylon cordura material. This is one bag you won't have to replace when you get it. It also has back pack straps that will adjust to fit a larger adult like myself. The interior is nice brushed nylon with a Velcro attached neck support block. Just a quality piece you can actually GIG with! The accessories pack comes in a velveteen pull string pouch with the 'Cme Hricane' logo screen printed on the front. Inside the pouch are goodies, including a spare set of strings, a really nice thick and larger size cleaning cloth, a service card and a very nice quality Cme Hricane branded capo..metal NOT plastic like a lot of others! So far, pretty impressive! Mind you, I haven't even removed the instrument from the protective foam bag at this point. The uke is absolutely beautiful. The body has mutilayer ABS binding around the top and side junction and the back is also ABS bound in a single layer. Very elegant looking. Neck & frets are straight and smooth and the action is just a bit higher than I like, but an easy fix with some inexpensive luthier files. The instrument is pre-strung with Aquila super nylguts that some regards as the best. I don't care much for these strings and straight away changed them out to D'ADDARIO titaniums. Once the set up was tweaked and new strings installed and preliminary stretch was done, this SOPRANO uke sang like a song bird! Very hard to believe that this is not a solid top instrument. Projection, bass-yes, bass! And wonderful complexity that is usually only found on more expensive solid wood instruments! I am very impressed by the overall experience with this Ukulele! This would (in my opinion) make a fabulous first instrument as well as a 21st! From raw beginner to dare I say pro, this is an amazing little uke! I say get one!

awesome little instrument
First of all, the thing is just beautiful!!! I got the Koa glossy version. Just gorgeous workmanship. So tiny and adorable!! I am a guitarist, but I've never dealt with an instrument with nylon strings before. I noticed immediately that it takes a bit to tune it. You have to tune it, then re-tune it, then re-tune it, etc..., until it is finally in tune. Once in tune, it gives you that classical Ukelele sound. I suspect that it will take a while before the strings are stretched enough to stay in tune for extended periods. That's fine, because you should always tune your instrument before you play it anyway. I think that is just the way nylon strings are. It is a pure joy to play. Learn a few chords, and just strum away. I highly recommend this little Ukelele. Nice little instrument, and you can't beat the price!!

Very disappointed this time.
I sell ukuleles on the side as a hobby. I find really nice quality ukes at a discount, set them up properly and sell them locally. I CAN'T SELL THESE!!! This is not the first time I've visited this brand. I've had very good experiences with this brand, until now! I do recommend trying all their other ukuleles, but unfortunately, not this one! I just can't recommend it when I get two bad ones in a row! I previously bought a persimmon (dark brown) and a spalted maple. Those were of excellent quality. I'm sorry to say that on the last two of these that I ordered (Koa/Acacia), the abalone fret markers are of absolute horrible quality! Half of them are muddy and washed out and you can barely see them! The other half are glaring bright! I don't understand why they would assemble them in this fashion. Normally, markers of this poor quality would be discarded! It absolutely ruins the appearance of an otherwise beautifully crafted ukulele! There are also shiny marks on the fretboard by the dull ones like they tried to polish them. You can't! It's the way abalone is. That's why you sort it and discard the bad markers! A few of the markers were not even flush with the surface. They were raised. The people assembling the fretboards must be locked in a dark closet, completely blind or just utterly incompetent! Have they no final inspection process? There's an inspection sticker. Maybe the inspector is blind. It just doesn't make sense at all! To ruin such a beautiful ukulele with sub par fret markers is just a total waste of product. Also, the first one I received had very corse and obvious sanding marks on the fretboard curving in an arc from the center to outside. This was obviously done before the fret wire was installed! As a result, I've lost faith in the manufacturing quality of this particular ukulele, not the entire line, at least for now. I'll try again at some point in the future. I'm sure that eventually, they'll get rid of the bafoon who is responsible for this travesty! This bad experience aside, I do recommend their ukuleles which do not include the abalone fret markers.
