It is not bi-directional: work only from IDE to SATA, not from SATA device to IDE BUS
If you are buying this for a CD drive keep in mind that it won't work. this item is great for hard drives conversion from IDE to SATA, but if you want to use a SATA device on a IDE bus, this won't work
