Perfect for straight cuts using a hand held saw
I bought the XL version of the Kreg straight edge so I can make cuts up to a full sheet of plywood length. Like all of my Kreg tools, this works really well. Accurate cuts become very easy using a hand held circular saw when a table or other saw is less practical. With 4 straight edge pieces that can be used in shorter form, or all 4 quickly and securely joined for long cuts, a handle and spring managed, marking, attaching/clamping and cutting becomes very easy. Finding a long enough straight edge used to be painful. Now I can quickly connect as many of the 4 pieces as needed, mark each end of the material to cut, put the guide in place and cut. One thing to consider - the straight edge saw guide includes two adjustable guides to allow marking where the cut will be, line the straight edge up then push guides out the way and cut. Easy enough, but for storing as compact as possible, I need to remove the guides and set up each time. I choose not to use the two additional plastic guides. Instead I carefully measured my held held saw - exactly 4 inches from the edge to the blade where I want to cut. Now all I do is measure 4 inches from where I actually want to cut, one mark each end of the material, clamp and cut.

Easy to use
It works pretty well. A little cumbersome if you need to add or remove sections. But it makes it easy to rip full sheets of plywood. And the price isn't bad.

This thing is great
I set up the bars that if I placed the part before or after the line (see pictures) would determine which way i'm cutting. In that, which way I measured. Facing it, if i measure from the left I wanted to have them on the left side of the line so it would be accurate, and if I measured from right, right side of line. This was due to depending on the cuts I had to make, sometimes the greatest amount of plywood left would be on 1 side or the other, but my saw always runs from the handle. It's how I set it up. The thickness of the pointer on the plastic arms is right around the thickness of my blade. It might be off 1/16 from the exact size of the blade, but not enough to make a difference when cutting plywood for cabinets IMO. I am finishing my basement that includes cabinets for a kitchenette. See picture of installed bases pre doors/countertop. These were all cut with this tool on 3/4 plywood. I used an online website to get cuts so i could purchase the least amount of plywood. Used this tool to make all the cuts. The reason for the lines is to double check my measurments. I have a tendacy to measure 3.5" at the 2.5 (opposite side of the 3) without realizing. So I'll use my T square 48" long and make the cut line and just verify that i'm not F'ing up. I also wanted to make sure the cuts were right on the line. Besides some wobble here or there when I wasn't holding it steady against the track, you could just see a sliver of line left. Perfect for how I measure/mark. I think the cabinets look good and this tool was perfect for me and not too expensive.

SO-SO. Surprised this is a KREG product.
I purchased this straight edge guide to replace my normal method of clamping a straight edge to plywood sheets as a saw guide. I am ripping 100+ sheets of MDF and wanted to speed up the process. Background: Hobby builder and home renovator for 12+ years. Medium sized shop space. Pros: Once you learn the clamping mechanism, it is a quick and simple process. Easy assembly (be sure to grab an aluminum level or a square to verify joints are straight. Cons: Flex in the aluminum can cause your straight edge to "bend" and your cut unsquared. Comes in 2' segments to be joined together. Saves spaces in shipping but causes a weaker bond. Bottom Line: This product is probably great in the 4' version, but the XL leaves something to be desired. If it was slightly thicker/more beefy, it would likely hold up better against the slight pressure of the saw ripping down the line. I had high hopes this would speed up my process. KREG takes feedback seriously and will improve the product, but I'll be stuck holding this segmented 8' piece of aluminum until I'm tired of looking at it.

Pretty awesome
It makes your cuts straight and true. Takes a few minutes to put it together as it comes in 4 sections. The set screws and the provided Allen wrench are a bit of a miss mach so be careful not to strip them out. It is super light but kind of a pain to disassemble to make smaller so I would recommend just storing it as the full set. The saw blade markers are awesome make it fast to set the correct line, but you have to set them left handed or right handed. They could have made it ambidextrous which would have made this thing basically flawless. It's a fraction of the cost of their tracksaw kit and if you're somewhat handy this will get you 90% there.
