The first thing I do to every vehicle I've owned, whether it be a car, truck, SUV, or motorcycle, is to upgrade from the standard paper air filter to a K&N filter. These are lifetime filters, never needing to be replaced and only requiring a cleaning once in a very long while. Fits perfect in my 2001 XJ. Alway put K&N products in all my vehicles. Didn't want to do the entire CAI, due to the 4.0 being a hot running engine. So this is the perfect alternative. Can't speak much for mileage gains since I haven't done much highway driving. But quicker throttle response for sure.
