I recently purchased the Barron's Adult CCRN Exam Premium Prep Book, and it has been an absolute game-changer in my study routine. Preparing for the CCRN exam can be daunting, but this book breaks everything down into manageable and clear sections. Pros: 1. The book covers all the critical topics needed for the CCRN exam, from cardiovascular and pulmonary systems to professional caring and ethical practice. It’s well-organized and thorough. 2. The practice questions are incredibly helpful. The full-length practice exams allowed me to gauge my readiness and identify areas where I needed more focus. 3. Each section is explained in a straightforward way, which is great for both refreshing my knowledge and learning new concepts. The rationales for answers helped deepen my understanding. 4. I appreciated the helpful study strategies and test-taking tips. They provided insights into how to approach tricky questions and manage time during the exam. 5. The included online practice tests and resources were a huge plus. It was convenient to test myself digitally and track my progress. Cons: While the content is detailed and valuable, it can feel a bit overwhelming at first. I recommend setting a study schedule to break it down into smaller sections. Overall, the Barron's Adult CCRN Exam Premium Prep Book is a must-have for anyone serious about passing the CCRN exam. It’s a solid investment in your career and provides all the tools needed to feel prepared and confident on exam day. This book was really all I used to study for the CCRN. I liked that it was concise and easy to read. I purchased the AACN on-demand online review, listened to it in its entirety once, and found that the content of this book reflected the AACN prep course so I focused on the book. HOWEVER, when I sat for the exam, I was SHOCKED to find that none of the questions were at all like any of the practice tests/questions I had done, with Barron’s and with the AACN. The test questions are based almost exclusively on critical thinking and applying knowledge to clinical practice. Like, seriously...after the first 25 questions I was convinced that I studied the wrong thing. I scored 103 out of 125...interestingly scoring lowest in caring and ethical practice which I had reviewed and scored really highly in on all practice questions. I work in a medical ICU, with no cath lab, no PA catheters, no cardio-thoracic surgeon, no neurosurgery, no trauma....basic critical care services, and I did really well in all areas other than caring/ethics. I highly recommend, just know the questions are NOTHING like the practice questions and practice test in the book. Oh, and I noticed that a few other reviewers couldn’t find the online practice tests. They’re a thing, you have to register with the website on the little cardboard page of the book then answer a question to verify your purchase. Then you’ll have access to two more online practice tests.

All you need is this book to pass the test. I went through it twice in its entirety and then took the three practice test. I found it helpful to review the questions even the ones I got right along with the rationale. I’ve been a neuro ICU nurse for 5.5 years so I have little experience with other ICU patient populations and this helped me cover the most important topics. You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on review courses, just get this book and commit to reading every single page. I didn’t focus on memorizing rather I’m understanding the concepts. Solely used this to study for the CCRN. To be honest I only studied the major sections and still passed. I think this book does a good job at highlighting the important things to know for the exam having taken it already. If you study this thoroughly enough and do decent on the practice tests, you should be fine on the exam in my opinion. Good luck!
