A great product, but a few small notes
Works incredibly well even with just cold tap water and no ice. Pump is a little louder than expected, but not annoying and won’t be noticed while doing most jobs with it on. The one case I could see it being an issue for me would be while running a camera for an outdoor event where you don’t want any extraneous noise that could be picked up by microphones (I’m a camera operator/production guy). The entire thing is a little heavy, but will easily cool the heat generated from wearing it. I wish there was an extra foot or so of slack in the tubing from the vest to the backpack (that could be tucked into the pack when not needed) so that the pack could be taken off and positioned somewhere else for driving or other cases where a backpack might be a hassle. The vest fits well and can be hidden under clothing so it can be left on even without the pack connected and no one will know

Absolutely worth the cost
Okay, I'll start by saying that I purchased this for medical reasons. I have a neurological disorder that causes my body to be unable to thermoregulate, presenting a severe heat intolerance. Normally if I walk into an environment that's 75° or more, I begin to experience dizziness, Light-headedness, tachycardia, and presyncope. If I don't resolve that and get somewhere cool quickly, I will faint. I bought this vest because the little ice pack holding one that I had before just wasn't enough anymore, and I've been told that active cooling like this one has a lot more oomph. That was not wrong. Oh my goodness this thing is amazing! If you freeze the bladder and put a little water in and then turn it on, it takes maybe 1 to 3 seconds before the water actually gets to you and then you FEEL it. That water is cold. The vest is well constructed and the layout of the tubes inside the vest has been thoughtfully done so that you get maximum cooling across your torso. The vest has a ton of stretch and the side buckles are very stretchy as well So there's really a lot of wiggle room in the fit. That said, you do want it to fit snugly for it to work best. The backpack construction seems really sturdy. I haven't had any problems with it at all and it is comfortable to wear. Given my health conditions, I was a little bit worried about needing to carry around the weight of the water bladder. But honestly the backpack distributes it really nicely with a chest and waist strap. And even for someone who really struggles with strength, it's not a problem for me. I have what I think is the newer blue bladder which is thicker than the older green bladders and I have not had any problems with leaks at all. With the technical stuff out of the way I'll get a little more emotional. This vest has genuinely changed my life, which I know sounds like a major overstatement but it's not. My son recently crossed over to his next Scout rank. The room was incredibly hot, even for people who don't normally have problems with heat. Several people came up to me asking if they were this hot, Was I okay? I won't say it was completely comfortable because I could still feel the warmth around my face and neck, but I had no dizziness, no light-headedness, and no presyncopy. I was able to stay through the entire ceremony and I cannot tell you how much that means to my family. 2 days later my son had a flag football game. It was 80° out. I wore the vest, brought the backpack along with me (I did buy the extra tubing so that I can set the backpack down when I'm sitting in a chair) and I was comfortable the whole time. I did not need little wet towels all over me. I did not need a fan that throws mist out. I was comfortable sitting around like a normal person. I was able to sit through practice and the whole game. I know it seems a little expensive at first but this product has let me be present for my family and that is priceless. Absolutely 100% worth it.

Works well slung behind a seat.
I bought this in part for use in a Pawnee (spray plane). It fits well over the back of the seat using the waist band to secure it around the base of the seat back and the cross chest strap to keep the shoulder straps from sliding off the seat. I bought an extension hose for it that allows me to connect it once in the cockpit. It works quite well for around 2 hours with the 3L bladder in 90 plus degree weather. It fits well under a nomex flight suit and make a flying in a nomex suit much more bearable in hot conditions. It’s 4 stars only as one side of the waist strap was poorly sewn and came loose from the pack. Otherwise the quality of the backpack appears to be well made.

Water storage unit developed a hole
This product was awesome when it worked. The big problem is that I followed the instructions to fill up the water bag up to the fill line and freeze for best results. I did that and proceeded to hook it all up fill it with 300-500 ml of water to prime the pump. To my surprise I started feeling freezing water running down my back. Come to find that there was a small hole i. the water storage unit.

Nothing close, $$$ active cooling. Passive cooling way behind. What I needed to survive heat.
First, I reccomend you do, what I did, buy it, then go outside. I have a heat intolerance that is very real. I have been hospitalized with dehydration. My tolerance has decreased each year, to where I am limited to 5 minutes outside in 80F ambient temps. This backpack vest cooling system has given me some of my prior life back. That is why I am spending so much energy to make this review and add pictures that will get you off the fence and outside if you can afford it and want it. And if you can't afford it, then lets find a way to get you some aid to get one. Its that important, I know. Must haves, if you want to be able to sit comfortably or ride in a vehicle, you will need to take the backpack off. Get the extension hoses, see pictures. I have been working with grease and wrenches (ok, very little, but a lot more than I have in a few years in the summer). I take the pack off and put in on my rollator (seldom use it except when I have to stand in line somewhere, it is getting used every day now to hold the pack while I walk around. Want to go a little further, then disconnect, and then when you need more cooling, then hook back up. I Have pic of how to fill bladder and where the air should be when you freeze bag laying down, so ice doesn't form in connections. I find I can't leave vest on running non stop, so I turn it off, I have also used bandaids on sensitve areas. I used bagged ice at first until I ordered a second bladder. The frozen bladder will last twice as long. My body doesn't regulate heat at all, so time for me is less than anyone else, but it a blessing, and I am very grateful for finding this. Then after using the system, clean it and dry it. I have a pic of how I dry mine, I zip tied a bag dryer (poorly designed) to a paper towel holder and I have an adequate dryer, to prevent mold. I have been using mine for a month now. I waited to make my review, so I wouln't mislead anyone and give them the straight stuff. The pictures of the vest are after a month of use, some days using two bladders in a day. Now I didn't use it every day, I am chronically ill and couldn't if I wanted to, but, it has been used every chance I can. Is it as good as it could be? Is it the best? Is everything about it just as I would want? Probably no to all questions. But, I see the company making changes already. The extension hoses have a sleeve covering on the latest ones offered. I had a zipper that wasn't bad, it had just been missed in sewing on one side, since it had two zippers, I didn't lose anything use of it, I emailed customer service and the next day had a reply with a request to take a pic and email back. Then my backpack was replaced. The quality as you see in the pictures was a pleasant surprise. The fit and finish of the sewing. And I am particular about fabric texture touching my skin. No problems with any of this. There have been some comments about pump and battery quality, I can say they both work, and for what I paid for the system, I will budget some money for a spare of both, because making sure I am not without this life saver for me is that important. I know I have written too much, but, I feel this strong about this. Last summer I rode my recliner from July to October, this year I am able to go outside for periods where I laughed as my body core took 30 minutes to reach room temperature after coming in from the heat, but from the other direction. Now my core is still cool, 30 minutes after coming in from 100F heat index, yeah, I reccomend it warts and all. Backpack comes only in one size, company says they are looking into this, not worth waiting for bigger one. I probably should have gotten a 3X instead of 2x (pics tell that story) but, still comfortable enough. The heat has me exploded, if you suffer with all of this as I do, you understand. So, again in summary, if you just want to be cooler, and do some recreation in the heat, this is for you, if you don't want to spend as much a 1k elsewhere, and if you NEED something to keep you cool and alive, this is something to look at, because it is working for me.

Works great for motorcycle wear but is a little heavy
The design of this unit is ingenious and it works exactly as I had hoped it would. It is a bit bulky and the vest is a horrible color, but when I wear it under my riding jacket it feels like I am surrounded by a cool breeze. I am still working through the proper ice to water ratio, and it has melted too soon on long rides, but I will get the hang of it. Watch for condensation if you are wearing a shirt and tie under the vest. It looked like the vest had leaked all over my shirt, but it was condensation, and it dried up very quickly.

It works but has many issues that are of concern
This system works fairly well, however the durability is of the water bladders is very low. It is made from very thin material that develops holes very easily. I asked the seller how to repair the bladders and they said they can't be repaired and that you have to buy a new one which currently costs $40. Another issue is the vest. The adjustment straps do not stay where you put them and are constantly loosening on their own. This is very frustrating and reduces the effectiveness of the vest. Another issue with the vest is that the cold water enters on one side and can be too cold since it is ice cold water. So, one half of you is too cold and the other half is still warm until you let enough water circulate. This can make the whole vest too cold since it is ice cold water and can cause problems with skin and muscles. Because of this I just run it for a few seconds at a time to keep a decent temperature. On the positive side, the customer service was very good after I bought the vest last year. I ordered a m/l vest which was way to loose on me. 6'2" 180 lbs... I contacted them to see if I could exchange it for the xs/s and they promptly sent one to me and told me to keep the medium large vest which goes unused because it was too loose. The xs/s fits tight and works effectively to transfer the heat/cold energy. The bladder developed a leak right away and they promptly sent me a new one. So, great customer service, not so great design. Another positive is that the battery and pump are effective even if it is loud and vibrates a lot. You will get looks if you have it going around others. I did a test and using the battery as needed to pump the water it lasted for about 5 working days. The water bladder frozen solid and then melted just enough to get the lines connected last about 4 hours for me just running it as needed which is for about 5 to 30 seconds to get fresh cool water in the vest then turning it off until the water warms up again. So, improvements that could be made are: More durable water bladder Adjustable vest that stays at the desired adjustment Temperature control Quiter, non-vibrating pump

3+ Years Still Cooling
I have had this backpack for over 3 years (May 2022). I use it during the Texas summer doing yard work or working the the garage. Its held up great and I cant complain. Early on I had an issue with the zipper on the backpack (almost a year after purchase) and the seller took care of it and sent a new backpack (I had to swap the pump and tubes over, but I am not complaining)
