This Start-X Remote Starter Kit is a great upgrade, especially if you enjoy the luxury of not climbing into a car that feels like either a pizza oven or a walk-in freezer, depending on the season. The installation was very easy, and the plug-and-play setup is a big plus. I really like that it works with the original Mazda key fob by pressing lock three times, so there’s no extra remote to lose, forget, or accidentally send through the washing machine. Once installed, it works exactly like it should: simple, convenient, and very satisfying. It feels like one of those upgrades you wonder why you waited so long to add. Being able to start the car before getting in makes a huge difference, especially on rough weather days. Overall, this is a great product, a useful upgrade, and a nice way to make your Mazda feel a little fancier without requiring a butler named Jeeves.

Awesome buy!! I have been begging for remote car starter for over 20 years (never been wealthy enough for that type of Luxury in a vehicle) and my fiance finally made all My dreams come true by purchasing this one on Amazon for Christmas! It was super simple to install. He had it done in a matter of 20 minutes if that, and it works like a charm. Hot or cold all I have to do is hit the lock button on my original key fob three times and it starts. It actually works from quite a distance. I used to be able to start it from inside my work and we were the second suite in a brick building with the parking lot on the end. I also love that I can get out of the car, and start it with my fob that way it can be running but the doors will still be locked. On my car if it's running and I get out I cannot lock the doors and therefore someone can easily jump in and run off with it, but not now! Now if I need to just run in the gas station really fast or want to warm up my car in the mornings I don't have to stress nearly as much about somebody possibly stealing my vehicle. I really cannot praise this thing enough. It's been over 6 months and It was worth every penny!!!

I installed this module at the start of 2022 on my Mazda 3 2016 hatchback I sport and it has worked perfectly for the past 4 YEARS I would highly recommend this thing it’s amazing and great for winter time I don’t have to leave the house to start it and when I get in it’s nice and warm and ready to go 10/10 will get this for any other car I have in the future super reliable never had an issue and from what I remember it was such an easy install plug and play indeed looks amazing because no wires stick out so it’s truly a must have mod pricey but worth every penny if you use your car every day !!!

The install took me about a half hour (most of that time was zip tying the harness up to hide it) thanks to a couple really good YouTube videos. When it came time to program the unit, I couldn't believe how fast and simple the procedure was. The only thing I don't like is that when I hit the lock button on the remote 3 times, my car honks twice. I don't think that's a fault of the Start-x product but it would be nice to not have that happen so my neighbors won't get pissed at me every morning. I'll research that a bit more. Anyways, everything works as it should and starts right up. Be sure to disconnect the negative on the battery first and then BEFORE you hook up the little computer box, but only after you have hooked up the harness underneath the steering colum , should u reconnect the car battery. Nice job to whoever developed this thing. Really well made and does the job instantly. Thanks for that. Side note: why is the Mazda CX-5 the MOST expensive Start-X kit of all of the other makes and models?? That part sucked.

First let me start by saying I install remote start systems as a business. I usually use Fortin products. This is basically a rebranded Fortin Evo product but it actually is much easier to install and doesnt require the Flashlink Updater, at least for the Mazda version. I literally got it installed and working in 5 minutes and took another 5 minutes to tidy up the wiring and zip tie everything. I prefer the lock 3 times so I can hear the horn honk twice to know the car received the command. If you don't want the honking, choose the lock unlock lock version. It does support being able to unlock and takeover without shutting down the car on my 2019 Mazda CX-5. Absolutely happy with this purchase. Thanks.

This product meet all of my emptions, this device is made very well and works like a charm. I called the support team before buying their product to ask some question about how the programming work and about an installation, this team was very responsive and know their product and that is why I bought it. Once I did the install that went very well and no issues, I started my car with the remote that came with it when I purchased it. The only thing that I was not able to figure out was how to keep it started once I enter the car, it would shut off. I call the support team and they said that I would need to step on the break for three seconds and it would not shut off. I replied with it should have been in the instructions. The tech replied it should have been printed on the back of the instructions, I told him I read all of the instruction and it was not there. He said did you look at the last page on the back. I reply no. When I did in was printed on the back page. All Good. The tech reply no worries, and asked if all was good. I reply with I more then good at this point.

I just installed it yesterday. When I say that was so simple to install and program . It works perfectly, I would definitely recommend buying this item.

Updated review: My first unit worked for approx. 1 day. It then began shutting the car down after several seconds. It would continue to try and restart 3 times, but always left the doors unlocked. I contacted their support via Email (No support on weekends). I was sent a replacement unit very quickly. The sad part is that after installing my new module, there was a new issue. Yes, the starter started the car perfectly this time, but now it was disabling my remote key fob, and the door button used to open the locks. I was unable to gain entry into the car while it was running. I had to use the "emergency" manual key to gain entry. Upon opening the door, the car shut off instantly. There was no 30sec time-out to get in and hit the breaks. I tried reprogramming the module using the reset function to no avail. I ended up returning the unit back to Amazon for a full refund. No residual issues are present in my car, so the only thing lost is some time. No hard feeling towards Start-X. I am happy with the support they provided. It was probably just bad luck on my part. I might consider trying them again, but not sure yet. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only instructions are a card indicating you need to watch a YouTube video for the physical installation. Though it does help, having an actual instruction booklet would be better as you are upside-down under your dash. Second, there is never a time in the video, or on the card when it tells you it is now safe to reconnect the battery. It goes from watch the video, to push the start button twice. It is also vague on if you should actual try and start the car with the breaks on or not (the answer turned out to be no break pedal). The video does not provide any information on how to secure the box under the dash, nor does it give any cable routing information. The harness is also about a foot too long. There is no reason for this huge cable when you only need it to be a 6 or 8 inches in length. Programming takes about 30 seconds and it did work without issue. I would have given it 5 stars if the instructions were actually in existence. The functionality is perfect. Worked on the first try. I love that it works with the manufacturers remote, and that you do NOT need to send this in for programming. Would I buy it again? YES! and I might just do that for my girlfriends Mazda 3, assuming after a month or 2 it is still working.

Installed on a 2020 Mazda CX5 signature. I am very pleased with this product. The cost is very low compared to OEM products installed at the dealership. The fact that it uses the factory key fob without an additional accessory is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately there is no ability to adjust interior climate controls such as the rear defrost or heated seats but for the price it is still worth it to be able to start the vehicle remotely. Just remember to set the front defrost to come on when parking the vehicle. The install was relatively easy. It’s a bit challenging to secure the power module under the dash due to the limited space and positioning but overall it was as simple as the video indicates. Took less than 30 minutes. Not sure about long term use since I just installed and started using it but I highly recommend this product.

Very easy to install, took less them 15 minutes. Works well with both my wifes and my remotes for same car. Just be careful, put your drivers seat all the way back if it's powered and turn your steering wheel 90 degrees, before you disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, this will make the install simple.

The physical install was very easy. Follow the instruction video and you will be fine. If your car doesn't start, read below. I would give this a 4.5 stars if I could. The .5 is for the wrong model module I received. I was expecting the Lock 3X module, what I got was the Lock, Unlock, Lock (LUL) module. I'm fine with that as long as it was mentioned somewhere. It wasn't after 4 module resets I came back in to report a problem when on this particular model, it said to check out its LUL model. Out of curiosity, I went out and did the LUL method and away my car went, started without a problem.

The whole install took about 20 minutes, only tools needed were a 10 mm socket (to disconnect the car battery), a #2 Philips screwdriver and a small flathead screwdriver to help unlock the tabs on the two wiring plugs under the steering wheel. There are several good YouTube videos covering this installation. Watch them and you will see how simple and quick the remote installs and programs. After you have the two sets of wires connected and reconnect the battery, the unit essentially auto-programs itself. That process takes about one minute. You have to reprogram the drivers window by opening, then closing it all the way shut, and that is it !! The remote start kit uses the remote controllers that came with the car. They are automatically programmed. To start the car, just press the Lock Button 3 times in succession. The car will run for 15 minutes after it has been started. I highly recommend this remote starter kit. I wish I would have ordered it in September. It was minus 24C here when I installed it at Christmas (outside on the driveway). BRD

Works great! Nice easy install. Programs itself in a few minutes once’s installed. Securing the wiring was the hardest part. Highly recommended. Update: discovering a bit more about this unit. It is a Directed Ds3+, startx units typically are fortin units. Adding an rf kit the viper d*** kits are required, the rf kits/instructions on startx site are not compatible . Assuming the increased price is also related to “directed-Ds3” unit being used. Still working on adding the rf kit. Assuming with the proper kit I should be able to be this working, was just surprised on the brand used in this case. Lock 3x works great so far.
